That. Was. Awesome!

Hands down the best episode we've had so far! All I've got in my head at the moment is incoherant squeeing so this might not make a lot of sense. LOL!

Arthur was made from magic! ZOMG! I so did not see that coming! And it was Nimue who did it. And Uther's wife died which is why he's on his anti-magic crusade.

Wow!

Uther was wonderful in this episode, and what I mean by that is Anthony Head was wonderful. We saw so many new aspects of Uther and Tony did them all wonderfully. I loved the chat he had with Gaius. It's the first time we've seen him as a man instead of the king and you can really see how close the two men are

And I loved him bonding with Arthur after the battle. I may have sniffled just a little.

I loved Merlin all smiley at Arthur's ceremony and Gwen's knowing looks *g*

You're proud of him really = you love him really

I don't like it when Merlin and Arthur fight :( I especially did not like Arthur swinging his sword at Merlin. I need apology fic soon pls

I am also wondering why Merlin didn't go looking for Arthur as soon as Uther said he was taking over. Maybe because he didn't want Arthur to die? It just seemed a little off that he didn't even seem to wonder where Arthur was. Need fic explaining that too ;)

But OMG the conversation between Merlin and Uther about Arthur

'You could say we...have a bond'
'I'm glad'

Uther approves of Merlin as Arthur's boyfriend!!!!!

And of course the sword ended up in the lake.

EEEE!

Yeah, I was wondering why Merlin didn't release Arthur. All very suspicious. I suppose Uther already had the sword by that point.

Yeah, I really think Merlin decided not to in order to keep Arthur safe

The "Looks after him," supports it, too.

I'm in love with Uther. STFU about it. I loves him.

"I'll show you footwork!" *chases Arthur* *cue fangirl melting* I sniffled a little too. My Dad thinks I'm insane.

I was literally squawking during the fight/duel thing for Merlin to go let Arthur out so Slash Dragon wouldn't roast him but noo.. Very odd!
And I just woobled everytime Uther breathed in this ep, there were tears when he was talking to Arthur!

I especially did not like Arthur swinging his sword at Merlin. I need apology fic soon pls
Does that ever make two of us! I've been craving apology fic since the moment it happened, the look on Merlin's face was just awful.

Guh, best ep ever.

I may have to write apology fic just to settle myself. LOL!

Oh please do! And then share :D
I would but apologies just aren't quite my niche, I'm better with the actions ~will not think bad thoughts~
It was a very buzzworthy episode; there was no pause to the let tensions ease down a bit at any point, which is quite great, in a way. *grins*

I can't promise it's any good mind you. It's only my second fic in this fandom and I'm still finding the voices

I think Merlin was still pissed at Arthur swinging the sword at his head...
That's my explanation anyway :P

I LOVED THIS EPISODE.
And yay for Uther's approval of the Merlin/Arthur :)

That could be it

I LOVED THIS EPISODE TOO!

Though on the surface the episode was enjoyable, it had all the elements, and acting - and though I said I wouldn't judge it on the legends old and new of King Arthur - it was spoilt for me by the blatant, and unrecoverable pissing over of the legends.

I actually feel really really very angry about it - so much so, I'll not be watching the show again. Even the French didn't do what they did - and the French massacres of Arthur are really pretty shameful propaganda pieces.

I shall instead look forward to the BBC/Showtime version of Camelot if it ever gets made.

Really? Well, I loved it but I'm not going to talk you around if you hated it that much

Sorry I shouldn't have ranted - I've just never seen a fictional program on TV that's ever made me this angry. Nor film for that matter.

I shall leave Merlin well enough alone from now on.

At least there was some good news, I feel like writing again - only 5000 words a day to hit target mind.

You mean Smallville never made you that angry? Wow! Impressive. LOL!

Seriously though, you don't have to apologise. I know where you're coming from as I hated the BBC version of Robin Hood for much the same reasons.

Smallville honestly doesn't affect me like that, I can work around Smallville's errors, and I can accept that some of the stuff they've done wrong would actually add up to a pretty incredible Superman. Smallville makes the big picture easier. Plus with Smallville, and comics in general - they work on a multiple universe theorem - as seen in Crisis on Infinite Earths, Smallville is just another of those Earths, pre-destined to a similar path to the Earth's we know and love from the comics, yet each go their own path to get there.

Arthurian legend just doesn't quite work the same. I thought maybe it could.

*P.S.* I have no negative icons on this journal, nothing angry, sad, or the like. Curious. I've not needed them before - the closest I could get was my republican icon, which can't actually be read, but says "McCain * Palin: Because you can't love Jesus, without the apocalypse" - I should find an angry Lex icon

I just had issues with Clark acting like an ass

Mind you, I might have had issues with Merlin if it had been Gawain and The Green Knight instead ;)

From: [identity profile] lex-a-like.livejournal.com
God knows what they'll do with Gawain, if they're willing to kill off his cousin so easily.

See to me Clark's acting like an arse makes Smallville that bit better than some incarnations of the comics, because we're presented with a human Superman, a Superman who faults - yet doesn't have to pretend everything's fine. He's not the American dream, he's not a symbol of the west, of justice, honor, and all things nice. His failings give him reason to develop, his desires give him things to sacrifice, his feebleness reminds of Superman's strengths, beyond super powers. In Lois and Clark they virtually introduce CK as Superman when he stands in front of a bus to save a girl (if I remember rightly), and suddenly you have the incarnation of a superhero. Just like that.

Smallville shows us that Superman's most important powers, his will, his intelligence, his moral sense - aren't just powers he's inherited as a child of Krypton, but are born from the life of a human. Which is why Superman is ultimately stronger than any other kryptonian, and other creatures. Adversely, thinking beyond Smallville, if you what Smallville has revealed of Superman, it's his kryptonian weaknesses, the pride, the arrogance, and the general physiological weaknesses, that allow a mere human to dominate the man of steel, whether it's Batman or Lex Luthor.

In a way, they tried to show this in the movie, when Jor-El and the other's stripped Superman of his powers. Though physically he couldn't match Zod without them, his heart and his intelligence saw him through.

Yeah, ok, you might have a point there. It still made me more angry than any other show has though

Arthur is made of magic and Merlin is a natural at it. No wonder they're bonded.
