It's been a while since I did this so I thought I'd do it again for the new people on my flist (and [livejournal.com profile] bogwitch who I'm sure will have lots of ideas)

I'm looking for songs to put on a Halloween playlist to take to [livejournal.com profile] drbillbongo's Halloween party. This can be anything from the usual cheesy stuff to alternative goth music to stuff that has been used in shows like Supernatural and Buffy

Suggest away!

Erm... 'This is Halloween' from 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' but sang by Marilyn Manson?

OOH! I have the version from The Nightmare Before Christmas but not the Marilyn Manson version. Thanks!

Mind some classic rock on the list?

If it fits with a Halloween sort of theme then sure

They probably won't fit the party mix, but what I'm writing Halloween fic to is...

Strange Brew - Cream
Witchy Woman - the Eagles
Born Under a Bad Sign - Cream
Bad Moon Rising - CCR
Hell's Bells - AC/DC
Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
This is Halloween by Marilyn Manson

You can tell that Dean's taken over my playlist. LOL Most of it is AC/DC, Ozzy, and and some blues mixed in.

I know that the Marilyn Manson is from a CD that I saw recently. I think it's here.

Though the version I saw just had the second disc with Manson's stuff on it.

Good choices! I have some of those already from my unofficial SPN Season 1 soundtrack

Date: 2008-10-12 11:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com
LOL That's where I got most of them. That would probably be one of the best places to look for creepy, Halloween style music.

Date: 2008-10-12 11:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hils.livejournal.com
Yeah :)

I do miss Season 1 of SPN. It's just not scary the way it used to be

The show itself or the music?

From: [identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com
It has been a little meh in the scary department, though this week's/last weeks (whatever) did have the high squick factor.

I miss the scary or at least the snarky. I have high hopes for the black and white episode, though. I hope it'll work.

What is with the lack of music in the last couple of seasons. Is it a budget thing? Coz I'm sure the fangirls would get together and pay up a few bucks so we can get a better soundtrack.

Date: 2008-10-12 11:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hils.livejournal.com
I don't think squick is the same as scary. Bloody Mary and Provenance are the two really scary episodes that stand out for me

Date: 2008-10-12 11:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com
Yes! Those were so scary. Especially the ep that I do not name because if you say it three times...

Jay and I had to watch that one during the day with the lights on and we were like the icon. *points*

Hehe! I used to have a special cushion that I couldn't watch SPN without. I used to either hide behind it or clutch at it

I haven't used it since the Clown episode from S2 :(

It's like they've forgotten that they're supposed to be scary. There's been some good episodes, but not scary. And so far, I really haven't been impressed with the later seasons.

I'm liking Season 4 so far. Season 3 was quite weak

From: [identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com
I thought it was just me. LOL There have been some interesting moments, but overall I'm not impressed with season 3 so far.

Season 4 has potential. Though I'm still going HUH through a lot of it. I've gotta catch up!

Yeah, it won't make much sense if you haven't seen Seasons 1-3

LOL I've seen all of season 1-2 and part of season 3.

Ahh! From Discworld? I've read some of the books but never seen any of the TV stuff

Oh, I saw the cartoon of Wyrd Sisters ages ago

You got it. : )

The TV stuff is.... Well it's never going to live up to your imagination, but Christopher Lee is just perfect as the voice of Death.

I love the fact that you've such diverse taste in fandoms too!

What an awesome idea! Are you going to bring a portable harddisk? :D Because then we could listen to your Halloween music whilst having dinner! I don't have any Halloween songs apart from the one from "Nightmare Before Christmas", unfortunately.

The perfect Halloween song as far as I'm concerned is 'A Little Piece Of Heaven' by Avenged Sevenfold.
It's a very funny/kinda gross metal Nightmare Before Christmas style track about two lovers who each kill the other before deciding to get married in the afterlife and go on a killing spree.

Also a lot of stuff by Creature Feature would be pretty good, things like 'A Gorey Demise' (which has me falling off a roof) and 'Such Horrible Things'.

My Chemical Romance's Vampires Will Never Hurt You is also rather good.

Erm, I'm sure I can think of some other ideas given chance.
