Wow! That felt like a proper Terminator story. I love it when they reference back to the first two films.

How many terminators are there out there though? I thought we just had Cromartie and Shirley Manson. Now this new one comes along.

Ah well, I still liked it

We've seen plenty out there in the series - there was the one they took out that was trying to stockpile the material to make Terminator's. The one that tried to take over the LA traffic system, and posed as someone's husband. I believe, that Skynet's current temporal plan is the saturate the past with Terminator's to the effect that it can prevent it's own prevention.

Of course, the protagonists don't appreciate that SkyNet is saving the world, by preventing a major rupture of the time line. I don't think SkyNet really appreciates this either, it keeps trying to cause massive alterations itself. If John Connor doesn't exist, then SkyNet has no need to travel back in time - and since it didn't travel back in time, John Connor would exist. The worst thing, the absolute worst place they can go with this series is to prevent the rise of the machines. I honestly do believe, if they actually do it, then it ultimately renders the whole series a steaming pile of human excavation. However at least Derek seems intent on making the future happen as it should, that counts for something.

I loved this episode, it was awesome. We got to see a bit more of grown up John, got to see Sarah letting go of him more, even though she doesn't like it. Imagine what a resistance leader if here weren't allowed to grow up when it counts. I can see John running off for a few episodes, and dealing with things himself - he needs it.

The best thing about this episode though, wasn't the Terminators though - it's the realisation that Sarah is reliving the past. Last episode she helped deliver a baby, and recounted the story of John's birth. In a way, she was reliving the moment through her neighbour. This episode we see her reminiscing of John as a boy, and John as a boy the way she'd like him to be, if she hadn't had to pile so much on him, and lead him over the world training to be the ultimate resistance leader.

When the boy tells her she's not a very good mother, she acknowledges it, and says she's going to try and do better. Sarah is painfully aware, that if she'd not been caught in this nightmare of an existence, she could have been a proper mother to John. And John could have been a proper boy.

It's got to be painful for her - John's the only hope for humanity (ultimately - though would another leader arise in John's place is a major question that no one dare touch on), and she's gone half way to removing his humanity, while at the same time coddling him, making sure he knows who mother is. Who wants that for their child? In a way, she sees keeping him her son, making sure he knows it, is her way of keeping him human - but that's how you breed psychopaths not resistance leaders.

I hope John does run away, but I hope when he does this show focuses on Sarah - they are her chronicles after all.

Yeah, I think we definitely need a more Sarah-centric episode soon
