Well, I've been defriended by one of the Chlark shippers on my flist, I suspect after the comment I made about Chloe in my review post yesterday. Really, I love Chloe, I just wish the writers would stop being so silly with her.

Anyway, I'm off to Stratford Upon Avon now peeps. You'll probably hear the squee from wherever you are when I arrive. This is like a trip to Mecca for me. Seeing David Tennant tomorrow is just an added bonus ;)

I have free wifi in my hotel so I might see you online later. The hotel is so far away from town I'll probably just stay in tonight and just devote all of tomorrow to sightseeing

Do you think I'll get into trouble for using the hotel internet to download the next episode of True Blood? ;)

I didn't think what you said was that bad, but I think a lot of Chloe fans see any criticism of her as a flame and take it way too personally.

Hmmm.... I was going to use a Chloe icon for this post and realized that I didn't have one!

I would choose Clois over Chlark if I had to pick a het ship. Chloe and Clark are too much like brother and sister. It'd be like shipping Buffy and Xander (which I know some people do but I never did)

I agree completely. I have never seen the romantic potential of those two, they seem too much like brother and sister...

I have Chlarkers on my flist, but I regretably had to defriend a few after they'd shown some hate for Lois or Lana.

I don't mind my flisters not liking a pairing or one of the characters, but I will defriend if the hate gets too over-the-top...

What you said, to me, wasn't over the top. I think it's a legitimate complaint.

I don't understand why they gave Chloe the healing power to begin with... It came in handy as yet another Deus Ex Machina (or Deus Ex Chloe), but anything that comes off as a Deus Ex Machina type of plot point should probably in general be avoided and the writers should have known better.

Now she's a super computer thanks to Brainiac? That power actually makes more sense, given her skills with computers, but still looks like a Deus Ex Machina plot point....

I agree, if they'd done that from the start it would have made more sense.

So, now her powers are like Superman Returns with the kid.

The execs didn't like the kid, didn't think that he'd worked out the way that Singer had thought, so rumor was that they were going to get rid of the kid for the next Superman film.

But how do you do that? He's Superman's kid, how do you get rid of him? Kill him? Send him off to the farm to live with grandma? How do you get rid of a kid without making both Lois and Clark look like awful parents? If you get rid of him, then it looks like you admit you made a mistake and nevermind the consequences of fixing it.

Same thing with Chloe's power: how do you get rid of the healing power without making it look like they have no clue what to do with Chloe?

The thing is, you can't... they did it and they should have stuck with it.

I really hope that the healing power just didn't work on Clark because he's not human, not because Brainiac took that power away and gave her a new one.

No, they're not going to get rid of the kid, they're getting rid of the entire continuity.

Any new Superman film will not be based on Singer's film, so no Singer, no SR continuity, no kid.

Thank goodness, I thought that was an awful idea.

I hated the kid and I hated Lois, it looked pretty enough but a real estate swindling storyline for Lex is so old school.

They should have had something more sinister than that....

The fact that she couldn't act either didn't help. She also looked totally wrong for the part, Lois would never been delicate or that skinny.... She was also written far too passive...

Meh...

I'm glad they're jetisoning Singer's continuity. He didn't understand anything about what makes Superman, Lois and Lex such great characters.

Her storyline DOES look crappy. And I'm sick of the writers giving her new powers. She was fine as a savvy reporter. She didn't need weird healing powers and she certainly didn't need super-intelligence

I don't know. I'll admit that when I see someone I respect call Chloe a Mary Sue it feels like a slap in the face, but then I have to remind myself that there's a reason I'm not watchng right now. I still don't believe this makes her a Mary Sue, and I don't care what powers she has, but I'd rather have Chloe than Chloiac, since they're gutting her personality to make this new plot work.

Anyway, someone defriended me right after I posted about Dickfish. So who knows.

I don't think what they're doing to Chloe is any different to the way they've treated Lana, Lex and Clark in the past ie manipulating their character to suit the plot

They're all Mary Sue's as far as I'm concerned (and whatever the male equivalent is)
