For part two, you didn't give "hey, it's Superman" as an option. I picked stick no matter what but I'm not sure that expresses my feelings if it's terrible.
I'm pretty much the same, if it's no entertainment value whatsoever, then I'll give it up, like any show - but as long as there's Clark, Chloe, and Ollie (maybe even some other Justice folks, pretty please), and something entertaining happens, I'll be watching.
Plus I find myself really looking forward to seeing Clark's transformation becoming ever closer.
I'll probably not be liked for saying this, but maybe MR's leaving is a good thing - both Clark and Lex need to transform into their future selves, but in many ways, both hold each other back, pining for the better years of Smallville - maybe it's their latent romantic relationship, the could have been, that makes their characters resist who they really are fully. Yes, we see Lex being badass, but it's never quite the psychotic, care free super villain Lex. Yes, we see Clark spinning around, changing time, fighting off bad guys and inner demons - but he can't quite bring himself to throw caution to the wind and set his life on course. He still lives and works on his parents farm - he was the kid with the big dreams of football, and college - and really making something of his life. He got sidetracked, and now he's got to set his course true again.
I'd watch for Chloe, but the spoilers make it sound like that's something I don't want to sit through, and for realz, I'm a busy woman. I don't need to waste time being angry when there isn't a five minute bit of Lex hanging around somewhere in the episode to make it worth it.
And you know, Clark's lost me, so I can't exactly watch "for Superman," because as is, they really don't have one. I can go along with fic writers who take him as is and bring him to his future, but the writers... I guess I just don't trust them. That along with how they've been treating LV and JM, not to mention a lot of their other actors... I don't feel good about watching a show that treats their talent so badly. Gosh, this is a rant, but I hope that for anyone who IS watching, they put something good out there. For me it's too little too late.
Hehe! Yeah, this is sort of my feeling too. I spent 80% of Season 7 feeling angry when I watched and that is not a reason to watch a show. So, I'll watch if my flist says it's good but I'm not holding out much hope
I disliked what he did with the comics version of Clark so much I stopped buying the books (and when I stopped my sub, I told the comic store guy why), and I certainly didn't like what he did with the SV version. I wouldn't have been happy even if he hadn't killed the CLex.
Thank you so much! Putting things in perspective, I wouldn't have minded the Clex dying if the rest of everything made sense...but it doesn't. So it just makes things worse. :/
Actually I am excited to watch this season for one reason and one reason alone. I ADORE OLLIE!!!!!
If Ollie wasn't in it as a regular this year, I would watch it and not be really into it. I miss Al and Miles and it will be interesting what they do without them and without Lex for that matter, but Ollie will be there. All Queen fans rejoice!!! :D
Honestly, I'm sticking with it because I still remember what it was like when it was great, I still love Tom, I want to see Tom as Superman, and if this is the last season, I want to say goodbye to a show I loved so much and give it the respect it deserves from me, because it gave me so much - new friends, new perspective on some things, new definitions of hot. It at least deserves that I see it through.
There's no Lex. Clark totally sucks and will never be Superman as far as I'm concerned. They can retcon him as much as they want, but I lost all respect for the character years ago. And more Ollie? Gah. No thanks.
