My parents are awesome!

I've just done my first proper solo drive (just me in the car) and it was mostly ok but I did make a couple of cock-ups and a guy honked at me which freaked me out. Had a missed call on my mobile when I got back to work and it was the 'rents. Gave them a call and told them what had happened and they cheered me up and said loads of people make mistakes and to just ignore it and focus on the next drive

Dad-Ra has got me on the rota to drive the dogs to the walking area every day next week and to pick him up from the garage when he gets his car fixed so I'm getting lots of chances to practise and that's good.

Definitely not ready to get rid of this icon yet though. LOL!

Ha! You are obviously a beginning driver. Soon, you will have enough experience to know to be PISSED when people honk at you! Or possibly embarrassed, if you really did do something lamebrained. :)

Um. That would be the American "pissed," as in super-angry. Not the English "pissed" as in super-drunk. :D

Gah. TWO people honked at me yesterday, I think because they were bored. I want to stop all this honking the French way, with punchcards in the horn, so that people who have too many punches in their cards get fined. Seriously.

I happen to be from a part of the country where it is considered exceptionally rude to honk. We honk in life-threatening situations only. *shakes fist at rude honking people*

When people honk at me, I STILL get nervous and doubt myself, and I've been driving for what, five years now? Don't you be worried sweetpea; you got from point A to point B. That's what matters! ^_^ I know once you feel more confident, you'll enjoy driving a lot more. It's my favorite thing to do. ^_^

Your parents are right (and even after you've been driving for five years, you STILL screw up from time to time. *shifty eyes*)

Aw, your folks are sweet.

And yeah, it's totally normal to make mistakes when you're first driving! The first time I went out alone, I missed my turn to the video store and ended up close to downtown Buffalo, which is a big city, and got very lost. I parked and cried for a bit, and then asked for help getting back to the 'burbs. So see, it happens to everyone! :)
