Today I went for my first drive by myself, except I wasn't really by myself because Greg came too. LOL! We had to do some work at our other site which is about 10 miles away so I got to drive.

Of course everything I learned went out the window. Oops. I made a lot of mistakes but no one died and Greg fell asleep while I was driving so it can't have been that bad ;)

Now you actually have to do it on your own. I did that about an hour after passing my test, but then I had my own car.

Sorry you might not want to hear this, but Michael drove so fast (as is he was still driving a fire engine), that to stop my mind racing about how dangerous it was, I fell alsleep as well. Even when we were racing down the roads with calor gas in the back and my mind went into overdrive that if we had an accident we would go up in flames!

Hehe! I wasn't speeding or anything. The mistakes I made were little things like using the wrong gear and forgetting to indicate as I left a roundabout

And I hate to say *this*, but where driving is concerned, at least here in America where an adult who doesn't have a driver's license is a freak, every stupid, stupid person you know is out there in their car, driving. Of course, there are a lot of bad drivers, but in the end, everybody gets it! :p That's what my high school friend and I used to tell each other. We're smarter than 80% of the people who drive! We'll be fine!

Wasn't my first drive, but only about two weeks after I passed... big storm in 2005, I was driving to work on the dual carriageway everyone treats like a motorway, at about five-past-seven on my own, with the horrendously hard rain slowing me down to sixty, when lightning struck the hill in front of me.

Kid you not.

This bit of learning to drive - the learning to drive on your own bit - is the best. That was when I really grasped just how much stress relief being 100% on your own in the car really could be.
