One of my biggest problems is my inability to concentrate on training courses, no matter how interesting they are.

This is a really interesting and useful course but I just can't handle sitting and listening to someone talk for hours at a time. I just wind up nodding off, which is bad.

Am currently drinking gallons of tea and it's not helping.

Someone poke me with a stick

OMG, I am the same way! I swear I fall asleep at every workshop I attend. I avoid them if I can, but my job has just been changed to include some brand new responsibilities, so my boss has been signing me up right and left. I'm dreading them all!

*pokes you* :)

I think some peoples brains are just geared to a more practical way of learning. If we were actually doing hands-on stuff I would be fine

I'll be sure to give you a virtual poking when you go on your workshops ;)

I agree. I do great when there's an interactive component, but talking heads are deadly. Zzzzz.

Yeah, we did some practical work first thing this morning and that was great. Now it's back to listening and I am having to stimulate my brain with LJ ;)

I find the bottled water is usually more help than the caffeinated drinks (tea or coffee) on training courses, especially at this time of year...

Really? I'll have to try that

It's a pretty crappy training course if someone is only droning on and now getting you involved or using a teaching style that suits everyone....

You would NEVER be bored in one of my lessons! LOL!!!! :)

YAY!!! Come teach me stuff! LOL!

Nah, it's an unusual situation because I am doing an accelerated version of a Hardware course which condenses 10 days of training into 5. Sadly there just isn't the time to have us doing practical work

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Stick me in front of a keyboard and tell me what to do and I can learn just about anything. Sit me in a room, show me a PowerPoint presentation and talk at me, and I'll be asleep before you've got past the first slide.

This is also, I suspect, why I did not shine academically.

I wasn't so bad when I was at school. It seems to be worse as I'm getting older
