I don't know why really. I do try and comment in other peoples journal wherever I can. Ah well, I clearly suck. LOL!

Edit: danceswithgary has pointed out that a lot of the received comments will be feedback on my fic and icons. That possibly explains it, although I do try and reply to all comments I get.

Edit2: Replies to comments aren't counted apparently so that solves the mystery I think

I would expect that ratio for you because you're a writer/icon maker. More people will comment on a single post for you and that's difficult to offset by commenting on other journals.

My ratio isn't much better.

I don't think it keeps track of replies to comments, just the initial comments. so you will be replying, it is not counted!

I’m pretty sure that all the comments that you made in your LJ in replying to people comments count in the “Received: 52,918”. Because when I was closed to “Received: 20 000” I checked out more carefully my number because I wanted to give something special to my 20 000 comments, but I realised that the number weren’t adding up if it was only the people comment, but the count was right including my relies to comments. Like the number went up 40 comments, but only 20 people commented on my post the day before.

When you comment in your journal, it counts as both a posted and a received comment.
