Mystery solved!

It's my adaptor! I just plugged it in to charge the battery and the mouse has gone screwy again.

Well, I have no idea what to do about that. Aside from not use my latop when it's plugged in, which isn't very practical

Are you sure it's the right kind of adapter? That's the only thing I can think of. Can you call the manufacturer?

Well, my model of laptop doesn't get made any more so I had to buy one from ebay.

Weirdly the moust stopped working when I first plugged the adaptor in but is working fine now

That is so weird. I have a USB mouse, and occasionally after I plug it in the + sign types itself. It's weird!

I've contacted the guy I bought the adaptor from and told him what happens, just to see if he has any thoughts
