hils: (Lois by me)

So, a very young Michael Cassidy is in The OC. I'm sure he had some work done on his nose before he got the role of Grant Gabriel in Smallville but that is not the point of this post

I have been waiting and waiting for Lois to find out what happened to Grant and that moment never came. This is what pisses me off more than anything about this show. They do such a half-assed job with their writing and continuity. It didn't need much. A small scene, or even a couple of sentences where Lois mentions his murder. She was upset when they broke up so we can't be expected to believe she didn't care about him.

Even Lionel, who accepted Grant as his son, didn't mention it again. Or maybe he did. Was there a conversation between him and Lex about it?

Anyway, that doesn't distract from the fact that Lois forgot all about him as soon as they broke up. It pisses me off. There really is no excuse for poor continuity in a show

In slightly related news I still haven't watched Arctic and I'm amazed I've managed to avoid all spoilers for it too. I was going to watch it today but somehow I didn't get around to it. Well, I'm off work all next week so that will give me time to watch it I guess.

And I really need to make some icons.

Honestly; I don't mind they haven't mentioned that... thing again. I mean, the storyline about the clone brother was even worse than the fake baby BS, so I really don't mind it became one of those "out of sight, out of mind" things.

In fact, I've already forgotten about that character. I sent him the Nile which is a really good place. *nods*

It was a stupid plot, but I liked the relationship Grant and Lois had, and I'm just sad they didn't acknowledge it after he died.

Lionel tried to blackmail Lana into helping him expose Lex because he murdered Grant. I don't know if that makes the continuity better or worse.

Probably worse, if you think about how much of a WTF that is for Lionel.

Yeah, Lionel has been WTF for most of this year

i thought Lionel mentioned it again but then again that could have been in a fanfic :/
i'm glad to know i'm not the only one who hasn't seen Arctic yet. i just keep putting it off. plus i was discovering 30 Rock last week.

i kept hearing good things about the show but was skeptical because i never thought of Tracey Morgan as being funny. but i was pleasantly surprised. i'm hoping to see S2 soon.

I didn't like Grant at all. Could've been a good idea but it failed miserably.

Icons? :bounces:

I liked the relationship with him and Lois rather than him as a character

I saw this through SVLedger... I think Craig from Ksite mentioned that when he interviewed Erica Durance for the season 7 Companion, she told him at this point Lois doesn't know hes dead... that the only ones who do know are Lex, Lionel, and Lana (Lionel told Lana about it in some episode, I think Siren?) The only time Lois acknowledged Grant was telling Clark she thought he would help her get over Oliver.. so I don't think anyone besides the Luthors knew about him, they most likely covered it up. At this point Lois thinks he just left town.. which sucks because in an interview Erica specifically asked the writers/producers if they would give Lois some type of acknowledgement or grief for Grant, and they never did it..

Ah well. At the time I wasn't for the Grant/Lois relationship, mainly because the usual Lois-bashers were going to town with speculation about her getting into the DP that way, or moving up the DP ladder.. but now that I rewatch and know that none of those speculations happened, then its easier to watch as a Lois fan LOL

Yeah, I never particularly liked Grant as a character but I thought he and Lois were cute together and, like Erica, it would have been nice if they'd acknowledged that

I think it was egregious too, but that's so par for the course for SV. It's like once any character is no longer onscreen, they are forgotten. It's not just Grant, he's merely the latest one. Think of Pete, Martha (only one mention and it's a call to LIONEL and not Clark), Gabe Sullivan, Henry Small, and, the worst in my opinion Alicia Baker.

I mean, one week he's morning at his wife's grave and the next he's grinning like a moron at cheerleaders and sorority girls for Met U. Makes no sense. The show runners have said that they don't find it realistic to have characters mourn for multiple eps but people just fall off the face of the earth in Smallville.

They don't find it realistic for someone to mourn for more than an episode? Wow, clearly none of them have ever lost anyone close to them

I know and it's ridiculous, you know? It's so weird. They admitted it in season four. It's all like "Well we didn't want Clark to be too upset about his dead wife!"

I guess Jonathan got some mourning time but even Lana...not all that much. He seemed sadly resigned and ready to go off to train in Kara and no one mentioned her at all.

So weird.

I think I've long since given up trying to work out what goes on in the heads of the writers. Clearly they are all on crack
