HOLY FUCKING SHIT! Lex actually killed Lionel! I mean we all hoped it would happen but I really though the writers weren't going to do it
Lionel falling to his death in the crucifixion pose was so unneccesary though. Urgh!
You guys weren't kidding when you talked about Tom and Michael's performances in this episode. The boys were really on their game for this!
I can't bring myself to be sad about Lionel's death. His redemption was so sloppily written that I never bought it. To me he is still the evil fucker who tortured Lex emotionally and physically for most of his life. Lex's motives for killing Lionel may have been a bit twisted but did you see how broken he was in that scene? Tears in his eyes as he gives his father one last chance to make things right.
Hell, I'D have killed Lionel after all that. There's only so much a person can take.
And I have to say I laughed when Lex had Gina killed. I knew it was coming because she kept touching him. Lex Luthor does not like to be touched! Apart from by Clark ;) Anyway, of course she died just after trying to tell him Clark's secret. Lex's timing always sucks!
Ok, let's move onto THAT scene. I had it so built up in my head that it was kind of a relief to see the actual thing. LOL. Yes, Clark accused Lex of being delusional when he mentioned aliens and that's bad but really I think both the boys were hurting so bad in this scene that they weren't really thinking about what they were saying. They just wanted to hurt each other and it worked.
I also can't be annoyed at Clark's treatment of Lionel. It's Clark's character to think the best of people and see any hope of redemption in them. He didn't have to cope with the years of abuse like Lex did. Clark grew up in a loving family with no notion of having a father who hated you. It gives me hope that if Lex were to work at it (not that he will, but for fanfic purposes) that Clark could forgive him too in the end.
And didn't the boys look pretty in the funeral scene?
