1. Greek is suprisingly enjoyable. Cappie is my favourite

2. Why are online friendships always like the ones you had at school? Everyone seems to be jealous and paranoid that other people are stealing their friends away. Can't we all just love each other?

But drama is what makes LJ so much fun to visit! ^^

I secretly love "Greek" too. It's my guilty pleasure.

I think it can replace Desperate Housewives, which I got bored of halfway through Season 4

*HUGS* Drama is part of the internet. I will admit some jealousy about your flist. There seems to be no one on LJ from my corner of the world and I totally envy people who have people they can hang out with in the same time zones. ;)

Oh, I know how you feel. None of my IM buds are anywhere near the same timezone as me and visiting anyone is nigh impossible. I can afford maybe one trip to the US a year and all of my friends are in different places

Then we should all meet up at a con and stalk a few yummy stars. ;)

Assuming I can make it of course *g*

If no one minds, I'd love to. If I can get the time off, of course. :D

And we could wear the owl hats. ;)

If we could find a pattern, I might be able to knit them. Or my mother could crochet them. She needs something to keep her busy.

I might try making one of the owl hats if I can find the pics I saved.

R2 refuses to let me have the pics, so I do need ones. The only ones he's letting me find are the icons, which are too small to get the details.

Is there anything specific you want?

Any pics of the owl hat that are clear so that I can figure out how exactly to make it. I know you had pics on your LJ but I couldn't remember how you tagged them. I have a basic pattern for a hat with ear flaps that I'm going to try out to see if it works. Then I'll need to figure out how to make it like MR's hat and find some nice yarn.

What color owls should I make? LOL

When you remove people from their natural conventions, there is a degree of reversal of social norms - plus the internet is seen as a young person's tool, a lot of people that use it now have been on it for the long haul so they've learnt behaviours in that regard, new people young and old see these learnt behaviours as conventions, and absorb that into how they behave online.

There's also the simple fact we spend more time online, as a society, than we have in sociable pursuits historically, so we let our carefully cropped adult fronts that allow us to interact within society down. We can't keep them up all the time, and offline we're only faced with people a few hours a day, so we can guard ourselves.

There's probably a few hundred papers out there from social scientists and such. However, at the end of the day people need to take responsibility for how they act online, much in the same way they do offline, and then the internet denizens will act more mature. And maybe, a piece of the collective soul that the internet has fed and fed over the past decade will sadly die.

It's weird though, I've been guilty of it too and I consider myself to be mostly sane and rational

Rational and sane are good - but a little irrationality, and insanity is good, emotions are one of the primary things about being human, even jealousy, all things in proportion, for a balanced healthy life style I guess. I've been both ends of the spectrum, and for all the trouble, I at least know that... whether or not I've learnt from it is another matter.
