Just because I was curious I googled to see, on average, how many hours of driving lessons are recommended. Obviously it depends on if you're getting outside practise but apparently the general rule of thumb is an hour and a half for every year of your life. That means I will need something in the region of 42 hours of lessons. I have currently had 13.5 so I'm a long way off yet.

Ah well, another lesson tomorrow. Must persevere.

Oh, I will. Sadly I am impatient and want to be able to drive NOW! Then I get frustrated with myself when I can't do it. LOL!

Anything worth doing has to be frustrating at first.

I've put driving a car on back burner for now. Learning to ride my scooter, think might do theory test in May.Then see about bike test.

would get the theory under your belt, then concentrate on the actual driving! Also knowing the theory will mean you are more prepaired for what is happening on the road!

Yeah, I think you're right. I'm going to start studying for my theory this week and maybe book it in a month or so

Ouch!! That's a lot of lessons - how much do you have to pay for yours?

My eldest son starts his lessons next week.

I have an hour and a half a week and it costs me £28.50

Your son is a lot younger than me so he probably won't need as many lessons, especially if he gets to practise in your car :)

We've got the car that my friend gave him for him to drive in and he's getting the hang of it. We're having to pay £20 an hour, so the quicker he gets his license the better! LOL!

Hehe! Yeah, I'll be glad when I don't have to fork out for any more lessons. So expensive!!!

Not that expensive - mine were £50 for 2 hours. Depends where you are in the country, I guess.

And I remember when I was a teenager something about you ought to have 40 hours lessons before passing your test - of course, most people saved money by having some lessons from their parents... so I guess that'd probably equate to the rule of thumb you said above...

It's expensive when I have rent and bills to pay :(
