You missed the big one;

November 2007, comment editing arrives. Users decide in droves to forgive LJ for most of its sins because for the first time in many years they'd actually given us something that we wanted.

Haha! Yes, I totally forgot about that. I didn't actually write this though *g*

That is the funniest thing I've read all week!

Love this: JAN 2005 — Six Apart buys LJ; LJ Blackout 2005

- brad ascends into Heaven; becomes God of LJ to whom disgruntled users pray.

*head scratchies* People threatened to leave over increased userpics? I don't remember that. I remember going "hells, yeah!"

Still, WIN.

Hehe! I don't think they did. It was just a joke. I don't recall people threatening to leave over polls either.

Increased user pics for paid users caused unpaid (basic) users to get hissy.

Bwahahahahahaha!!

I'm tempted to add at the bottom of the list:

JAN 2200 - Lj users are consulted about what they want. They reply. Lj goes bankrupt and closes down.
- Users are sad until they find a new journal site which they immediately start to complain about.

:)

Hmm. Sounds like most fandoms I've known. :)

I'm spending Friday backing up certain material to IJ because I don't have a comfort level to keep them housed solely on LJ any more. It's far less convenient for me, but I do need to take care of that for my peace of mind (a lot of writing in progress is housed in private categories).

Also, I have Who fic I need to edit and I should probably spend some time Friday doing that. I'd like to get this posted before Series 4 premieres and I'm completely jossed (not that the Torchwood side of it hasn't been already).

Oh, absolutely. I would recommend everyone backup their journals in one way or another because you just never know. That's one of the main reasons I set up a fiction journal, so it's all in one place and makes backing it up easier

This all reminds me of when my old stomping ground, GAFF.net, went through a bunch of changes and eventually became mostly a pay site. Some did leave, (I was one of them because unlike LJ, it didn't have enough to make me want to pay,) but despite all the hoo-haa, little changed in the end. Hee!

Date: 2008-03-20 04:43 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hils.livejournal.com
Yeah, I mean I already pay for it so I'm really not fussed about all the hoo-haa

Yup, I got into LJ via an invite code and I issued a few to my friends before LJ did away with it
