Well, I watched one episode of The Wire all the way through and I'm still not into it. Mostly because I have no idea what's going on. LOL! But cop dramas aren't really my thing (unless it's CSI) so I think I'm just going to leave it there.

Now to make some icons...or maybe try and write.

Dude, you need to watch more that one episode. It's not an episodic show! It has a slow burning plot that builds and builds and it's really complex and challenging, but omg SO worth it when you get to the end of each season.

Please tell me you didn't just watch a random epsiode? You have to start from the beginning!

PS. To call it a "cop drama" is really inaccurate, btw.

Hehe! No I didn't pick a random episode. I watched the first episode of the first season and I was confused and then bored :(

Oh no! It gets so much better! It is hard work at first but the pay off is off the scale. Like nothing you've ever experienced from a TV show. You won't see it now, but as you get to know the characters (and they are all SO real) you will start to care deeply about them, and as the plot thickens you will become more and more absorbed. The power of this show creeps up on you because it's structured like a novel (hence why the first episode moves slowly: it's like chapter one, and is merely setting the scene). I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW INCREDIBLE AND REWARDING THIS SHOW IS IF YOU STICK WITH IT.

The Wire is one of Husband's favorites. Or was, I suppose, as the last episode aired this week.

This show grows to be much more than a cop drama. It is written by a guy who was a journalist in Baltimore, and it is really about the politics and social dynamics of an American city. If you ever wanted something resembling a *real* look at American politics and society produced for TV, this show is one window. Baltimore is very racially divided, has a very high crime rate, has all sorts of urban problems. Right down the road from our nation's capital - a city with a lot of similar problems.

Of course, that doesn't mean it will be your cuppa. You still might find it boring as HELL! And I should note that this was not a show I ever made time to watch. So I'm giving you second hand opinions and a rehash of critics' commentaries.
