A few things

I know I'm technically on holiday but I really need to use my time more constructively this week. Yesterday I made a half-assed attempt at writing, did my workout and spent the rest of the time playing Sims and chatting on IM. Not good.

Kitty paid me a visit at about 5am and climbed over me to get to the windowsill so she could sit on it and look outside. Then, when she got bored, she climbed over me again to get down. Not good.

There's lots of things I need to get done this week. Writing aside. I still need to watch The Wire, and I've got my Theory Test DVD here so I can study for my test (which I now can't afford to even book until June. Woe!). I've got icons to make as well (a Smallville episode and Urban Legend)

As for the latest LJ kerfuffle I've been mulling it over, especially in regards to whether to strike on Friday and in the end I've decided not to. LJ has rectified the issue that was bothering me most, and I've already said before that what they've done with basic accounts makes sense. Yes, they could have handled it better with regards to communicating with people but I don't think it's worth striking over. I do have an IJ account but I have no intention of leaving LJ any time soon. I've said it before. If we all leave, IJ is going to wind up like LJ anyway. emrinalexandr explains it better than me

So, leave if you want but I'm staying right here, thanks.

I'd already decided that the 'strike' made no sense and that the latest 'atrocities' weren't, so I'll be posting as usual.

I can't be bothered to do much with my IJ, double-posting is too much trouble since I have to re-do my links when I do - it's not a simple cut/paste. It's just there if I need it.

I don't think anyone is saying to leave just not post for a single 24-hr period.

They fixed the interests only because it was noticed and stirred people up. So having a strike day is more a reminder that our content is valuable.

Treat it normal ok but to sabatogue the strike by spamming isn't a mature thing to do.

I can see the logic behind it but as more than one person has said, it's only going to work if ALL of LJ participates, which they are not doing.

so many ppl have gone to IJ already (like, before i even FOUND this fandom) that i might have to get an account just to comment on the things i wanna read there. Poop.

what did they do to rectify things? I only even heard about the flap in the first place because Seperis has been blogging about it.

I agree about the LJ stuff, and I'm not going to participate in the strike either. It just doesn't make sense to me. People spend one day out of LJ, but they'll spend double the amount of time the next day to catch up with stuff they missed, increasing the traffic and maybe even cause the page to crash or take ages to load, so it'll affect the users more than the company.

And yes, I'm staying right here, too. I don't see why I should leave LJ when I've become accustomed to it, and other journals aren't necessarily better. I guess the article I recently read on this matter was right - many LJ users are hard to please, making a fuss out of every little change. As soon as they leave, this place will be enjoyable again. ;)
