First impressions
Mar. 7th, 2008 06:02 pmI'm not overly impressed with gmail so far :(
1. I don't like how it groups all the comments from one LJ post together in one message
2. I don't like how it takes you back to the Inbox after you delete a message instead of taking you to the next message.
I'll give it another day but I think I will be switching back to yahell

Date: 2008-03-07 06:35 pm (UTC)This is why my Gmail account is effectively subscribed spam box. I have things like alt.scientology, and other mailing lists (where grouping does make sense), forums I rarely frequent, charity stuff, and anytime something requires me to register but isn't likely to be interesting often, that gets routed through there too. I won't use it for anything else though, as it bugs the hell out of me.
Then I've got my serversurfer@hotmail.com - which has a crap online interface, but it's convenient for all my social networking accounts, dating sites, and other meeting up stuff.
Then there's Yahoo, which I love. I love the online interface (new and old), but there are problems with the spam filters. Happily there isn't through Outlook, and generally the problems are getting less frequent now anyway. Everything else personal goes there, including LiveJournal, anything financial, or that I'd like to see on a daily basis. Plus the wap access is better :)

Date: 2008-03-09 10:08 pm (UTC)With gmail I can select an e-mail, go to More Actions, and a few clicks later will have set up a filter that tags all similar e-mails for me and archives them if I want. For an organizational freak with 500+ e-mails sitting in her inbox alone, this is a thing of wonder. lol
At first I really wasn't a fan of how it groups things together, but again, I got used to it and can't live without it. Everyone has different preferences, though, right? Hope you manage to settle on something you like.
