Oh dear! I sense things are on the slippery slope back towards season 1 standards.

Overall the concept for this was really interesting, but overall it felt quite disjointed and a bit odd. The stuff with Jack's past left me feeling confused, especially towards the end where Adam started messing with his memories.

The hypnosis scene was just a bit weird, with more Jack/Gwen stuff. I've realised that my main problem with Jack/Gwen is that it doesn't feel natural. I feel like I'm having the whole thing forced upon me. It's not even that the writers can't do het. I love Owen/Tosh and Gwen/Rhys.

Rhys is like Chloe (from Smallville), I've decided. I was never particularly keen on her until she discovered Clark had superpowers and then I loved her. Same with Rhys. Now he knows about Torchwood and isn't just the dumb boyfriend I really like him.

Plus, how can anyone ship Jack/Gwen with Jack/Ianto are so awesome! I loved Jack's total unwillingness to believe Ianto was a killer, and the sweet kiss he placed on Ianto's forehead. I loved Ianto's face when Jack found the diary. Brilliant!

Still, Martha AND Alan Dale next week. YAY!

i don't know when i'll get to see this episode, but i have to say i love rhys. he's wonderfully supportive and lovable, and if gwen ever dumps him, i want him. he can even cook.

Exactly! Gwen should leave Jack alone and stick with Rhys. Jack has Ianto

I was strongly reminded of the introduction of Dawn in BtVS S5, and I think Joss did it a lot better. The TW writers gave away too much too soon. It was fun, but frustrating, as per usual.

And who knew Captain Jack was brought up on Tatooine?

Hehe! Jacqui said it reminded her of Superstar, again only not as well done.

Tatooine? Looked more like Brighton ;)

Nah. Brighton beach is pebbly. *g*

I was expecting a pair of droids to come over the hill any moment. It was, shall we say, a trifle derivative...

Yeah, it's probably the weakest episode so far

Hmm - I missed the episode last week, but thus far the episodes for this season have been interesting setups and premises, badly executed. This was the first one that didn't fail on bad plotting terms (though it did feel rushed). I don't really think there is much of a Jack/Gwen thing - from the first episode it has just seemed that Jack is manipulating Gwen a bit so she remains part of the team, rather than investing in a life outside Torchwood. I think the episode was supposed to be disjointed and odd - it was the point of what it was saying about messing with memory, and the question of what xonstitutes a 'real' feeling or memory.

That's an interesting take on what's happening with Jack and Gwen :)
