At goth_clark's recommendation I have just finished reading Civil War and Civil War: Frontline

I'm probably even less familiar with the Marvel universe than I am with DC but I still found this a really gripping series of comics. Everytime I see Captain America I feel sad because I know how it all ends.

It was amazingly well written because, like the main characters, by the end you've totally lost sight of what each side was fighting for.

Excellent read!

It was a mini-series about the history of the Marvel universe as seen by a reporter, gorgeously painted by Alex Ross. It's been collected as a trade paperback.
