Seriously though, I'm glad we finally know what her story is. I was tired of all the evasiveness

And ICK! This episode was gross! Teeth falling out, worm burgers, lungs melting *shudders*

And Ruby says there's no way to save Dean. She could be wrong though? Right? Or maybe it'll turn into Randall and Hopkirk. Sam will hunt demons with his demon yet human brother.

I wonder what will happen next.

Lol. That's a positive spin on it. Ruby is Angel, and Bela is Spike. I'm not sure how I feel about that actually. I might have just been in a bad mood from watching SV, but witches selling their souls to the devil? How CLICHE, even for SPN. As a witch myself, I may have used blood in rituals and chanted naked before a candle, but I've never sold my soul to a demon or sent pins into someone's stomach. I don't know that I can identify with a witch who would be willing to cause harm in that way or give up the intangible for materialism. It's the reverse of my paradigm. o.O

I say this as someone who has generally been pleased by the portrayal of pagan gods in this show. The trickster? Lolarious! Spot on! The creepy xmas couple? I loved them. Even the scarecrow in the first season was well done. I'm not looking to be offended, but this seemed cheap in comparison. The only way that I could redeem the use of that plot is if I feel that they adequately parallel Dean and Ruby's selling of their souls. Dean did it out of LOVE. Ruby did it for POWER (as far as we know). And honestly, I don't believe that Dean will become a monster. If Ruby can remember her humanity, then Dean will. The end.

Ruby's wrong, though. I was worried until they textually stated that there was no way out. If Ruby doesn't know a way, Bela can probably figger a way to find out (not that she'd DO it, but she might be convinced to find out so that SAM can do it and she doesn't have to mess up her manicure ;) ). Stating that it can't be done is a red herring, I'm dead certain. I'd do the same thing, if I wanted to assure my readers that there was a chance that I'd fucking off a character. Just you watch me. I'll do it!! Just step back or the woobie gets it!

God. Look at me GO. I know that some people hate the girls for being here, but they've got me writing META for SPN!!!!

I think what I love about SPN... I'll probably get over this. But I go online to talk about SV and I get more pissed off. I go on to talk about SPN, and I feel BETTER (usually. unless i've found a board ranting about Bela Sue, and then i become a demon myself and start wreaking havoc on the countryside). In the end though, we have a kind of cheap plot, but the episodic plot isn't as important as the season long arch, which must be moved, and the motion of the characters. Whereas, in SV, it's all about what the characters need to do in the moment, and not where they're going. Even that episode where SPN ripped off Ringu to do the Bloody Mary episode, that was more about delving into Sam's inner psyche than the ghost plot.

I think Ruby is right that the is no way to save Dean, at least in the sense that she understands it, so I don't think she's lying about that. However, I think Dean will get out of the deal, but it may due to the intervetion of another power. Most likely that will be Sam.

I've thought for awhile that Dean will probably die, and that would have been the climax of the season. It won't play out that way now, but I still think he's been to the brink to many times now for him not to tumble over the edge this time.

How we get him back is another matter entirely...

I never let myself read what my flist says about episodes until after I've written my own review, so I'm kind of late to this party.

I like Ruby, and I appreciate what she's doing, but she doesn't know everything. On the other hand, Kripke (like Joss) is liable to kill off someone we love, just to show us he can. I feel like anything could happen. *whimpers* However, I think the shortened schedule means we won't have to face it until next season. :)

Word to the ick factor!! This episode had to have been one of the worst ever!! Yuck.

I loved the look on Dean's face when Ruby said to the demon, "I've wanted you for so long." Even with his life on the line, his mind goes there. *snerk*
