Petty?

Someone from one of the Torchwood communities has taken a couple of my icons and added text to them. They have credited me for the base but I am a little narked because my post speficially says that the icons are not bases. Am I being petty? Would it be even more petty to get in touch with her and say something?

Since your posts specifically state that blanks are not bases, it has nothing to do with pettiness to be annoyed about what that person did. So I'm all for getting in touch with that person and telling her about it. (Frankly, I'd do the very same if people did that with my icons, because my blank icons aren't bases, either.)

That happened to me once. I contacted the person and asked her to take my icons down and she did.

Nope, you've said it clearly that you dun want em fiddled with. It sounds like you've already talked w/ her & she quickly took em' down--good.

That being said, I'd likely have a full quarter of my 100+ icons be yours, but I like to add my own text, or have them first unveiled w/ text. I've been burned a couple of times with the, "I'll happily add text for you" only to have them come back looking...awful. Then what are you to do? They did the extra work, but they're *crap*. *laughing* Not saying that's what *you'd* do, but I'm gun-shy anymore & stick to bases or icons that allow the possibility of altering.

No big, just thought it generally worth mentioning. ;)

I know it's after the fact as she has already taken them down, but as an icon whore, I'd disagree and say that if she's crediting the base to you, she's doing her part if specifies that it's your base. I'm a complete snob, I totally appreciate beautiful icons and couldn't make them for shit, but I also realize that no fandom icon maker "owns" any of these images.

I'm not saying I own the images but I am saying I own the icons. I put a lot of hard work into my icons and it annoys me that people then change them and often make them look crappy. I offer to add text to them if people want so really there's no reason for people to modify my work
