Why is iTunes so bloody complicated?!
Look at the sheer amount of faff I have to read to move my music
What the hell is wrong with drag and drop? You just select all your music on the ipod, copy and paste into a folder on my external hard drive. Simple! There is no need for all this nonsense.
Honestly, I love my pod but the software annoys the hell out of me.
This is why I will never buy a Mac.

Date: 2008-01-22 06:24 pm (UTC)I hated iTunes so much, I only had it on my computer for about 2 hours before I uninstalled it. I was just thinking of using it for buying .mp3's. I don't have an iPod. When I told brother what an evil bad software it was, he said, Oh! You must have an old version! I just said, "Do. Not. Want."

The key is to use your computer as the source for all downloads, then upload to your iPod. The drag and drop feature works perfectly within the iTunes software on your computer. The iPod itself, because it is designed to upload and play music from any source, without barriers, necessarily hits those security barriers when you try to move content in the other direction.
None of which relieves any of your frustration, I know. Sorry!

Date: 2008-01-22 07:41 pm (UTC)I use iTunes 24/7 and get all the updates. I hear people have difficulty burning cds, but all the cds I make play in my car and my car stereo only plays cd-format - not mp3. Weird. I used to use WinAmp to play all my music, but iTunes is so much nicer. You just have to update the bastard constantly.
And sadly iPods break a wee bit to easily. I am on my second one already but I love the precious shiny. I plan on buying a 160gb when I have the money (hahahaha)! Mine is black and 30gb. I wish they made different colors like the nano . . .
