What is Doctor Pepper supposed to taste of? I just described it to [livejournal.com profile] lexalicious70 'weird and wrong' but I'm guessing that's not what they were aiming for. LOL

The website describes it as 'a blend of 23' flavours but what do you think?

Well Dr. Pepper was first created as a digestive aid in 18th century America, much the same as Coca Cola (cocaine) and Pepsi (more cocaine for PEP). Dr. PEPper however was made with Prunes and I believe it still contains trace flavors.

Actually I don't like Dr. Pepper either. My brother loves it though, and so does my mom. I really prefer Coke. But if I drink Pepsi I like it with lime.

Yup, it tastes a bit like prune juice. Fizzy prune juice.

I've never liked it but the rockgod says it's cherry cola.

According to the alt.fan.dr-pepper FAQ:

Max Wolheim, who "can't guarantee the accuracy of any of this," posted this interesting article (with a small caveat) on June 20, 1999:

Yes, I've heard the "23 fruit flavors" of Dr. Pepper [sic] for years. I can tell you this is nonsense! I can't reveal the source (he'd get fired), but here is a list of some of the real flavoring ingredients:

Vanillin (imitation vanilla)
Extract of almond
denatured rum (no joke)
Oil of orange
lactic acid (optional; once listed separately from "flavorings")

It also says that there never have been prunes in Dr Pepper.

Now if you want "weird and wrong" (and also Texan), try Big Red.

Maybe this explains why, if I'm going to drink, adding rum to my Dr. Pepper works for me, lol.
Yes, I'm a DP drinker. Have been for years, though I'm trying to drink less soda now so I have to savor it when I do get it :))

Tastes like cherries and almonds mixed with Coke to me. And actually *looks around, feels lonely* I really quite like it. : )

Me, too.

The liking it part. I'm not so sure about the almonds part, though. The only way I've ever been able to stomach the things is in Bit-O-Honey candy bars.

I also really like Dr. Pepper. As does my husband and my son. Though I would definitely be hard-pressed to say what it tastes like. Tastes like Dr. Pepper. Husband says it's cherry. :D

Although these days, I'm in a Mt. Dew phase. It cycles with Dr. Pepper every couple of years.

I LOVE Dr. Pepper. To me it tastes a bit like a Cherry Coke, but smoother than Cherry coke.

I always thought it tasted like plums.
I dont like it much, but my friend Robyn drinks it like there is no tomorrow. Supposedly it has more caffiene in it than Mountain Dew...
Oh, but Big Red is awesome.
Try it with vanilla ice cream!

I love Pepsi, but with my kidney troubles, I try to really moderate my intake.
