I wasn't sure whether the [livejournal.com profile] undermistletoe fics were open for cross-posting so I didn't do it. Now I've been told cross-posting is fine but I'm not sure whether I should or not.

This is the fic which is allegedly plagairised. I'm a bit concerned that if I post it to all my usual communities it's just going to provoke people.

Incidentially, following on from my post yesterday it seems my invitation to get [livejournal.com profile] stop_plagiarism involved has been declined. She seemed reluctant at first because she didn't want me to look bad if they sided with her, but when I asked for an alternative solution she had nothing and said she would post to them.

She hasn't.

Hopefully that will be the end of it.

Incidentally I hope no one on here is [livejournal.com profile] stoneearth because it's really not helping me.

I say cross-post and stuff 'em. You know it's not plagiarised, your beta knows it's not plagiarised, your friends know, and anyone with a lick of sense knows. Don't let a few idiots ruin fandom for you. (I know that's good, coming from me, but nonetheless.)

I think crossposting it should be fine, anyone that actually read the fics in question will realise that you didn't plagerise her.

Also, if I thought someone had plagerised something that I wrote, I really wouldn't care if that person looked bad, to be honest.

Yeah, I think she's starting to realise she's in the wrong. I hope so anyway.

I'm very happy to see that you cross-posted the story (which I read the very first day it was posted but haven't left a comment on yet because I am made of fail!!!!).

I still don't see where the plagiarism accusation is coming from, but that's just me.

From the looks of the journal, [livejournal.com profile] stoneearth looks like a sockpuppet- despite what the only post in the journal states!

Aww! Thank you!

I willingly admit that the stories have some similar elements, but they're only similar and it's certainly not enough to be plagiarism

Yeah, I think it is a sockpuppet. It's just a shame it seems to have been created to defend me and therefore makes it look like I had something to do with it. I fight my own battles.

[livejournal.com profile] stoneearth's lj was created in July. So that's a good sign.

Really? I actually thought [livejournal.com profile] stoneearth made a lot of points that needed to be made. Unless s/he's done something else that I haven't seen, all I can see his him/her defending your position. Even if s/he is a sockpuppet, what's the problem? The lack of politeness in the face of a genuinely outrageous accusation?

WTF. She accuses you of plagiarism, then she accuses you of sockpuppeting?! Wow, what a great person she is. :|

She didn't accuse me, but one of my friends who had been contacted by her about this, said it made it look like it was me.

I just want it to be over :(

For the record I didn't think for one moment that it looked like you. And given that you've been openly trying to sort this out from the beginning I can't imagine anyone (with any brains) would think it was you.

*hugs you*

I'm so sorry you're going through this and I hope it gets sorted soon and that your name is cleared.

Ack! Now she's accused one of my friends of being the sockpuppet. OMG!

*hugs back*

I really do appreciate the amount of support I'm getting on this. I really think I'd have just caved otherwise. I have this annoying habit of just assuming I'm in the wrong if someone accuses me of something. LOL!

I see that [livejournal.com profile] justforspite has entered her complaint at [livejournal.com profile] stop_plagiarism.

I'll open my synopsis post to anyone you want to have read it, just let me know.

Ohh, it was that person? Okay, that makes sense now.

Look, hon, take it from me. Don't worry about what your non-friends say. Your friends are here, they support you and that's all that matters. Don't let one or two people ruin this experience for you, as THEY WILL TRY once they see someone happy and with good friends.

Post what you want where you want, or don't. I've personally opted for f-locking my LJ, and I post occasional fics elsewhere, but that was my choice. You need to do what's best for YOU, and screw other people who didn't matter to begin with.

Just know that you have friends and the others aren't worth crying over, okay? Trust me, I know.

Why does it make sense now? Just out of curiosity.

I'm not going to let it stop me from writing, although the temptation was there at one point. I'll just be happy if my name is cleared and I don't wind up with a reputation as a plagiarist. She honestly doesn't seem to understand why I'm so upset about this. Apparently my LJ is filled with 'drama'

Meh! I need to stop checking her journal to see what she says about me. LOL!

I need to stop checking her journal to see what she says about me.

You really do. I know it's hard work to not pay attention when it's your name on the line, but if you can, print a page of your friends' comments and focus on those words for a while. I know it was my friends who got me through what happened to me last year, and while some people never will believe that I wasn't in on it, my real friends do, and that's what matters.

Let's just say some people's actions shock me. Others' don't.

I thought the other party was someone else, thus my comment (and now I understand why you were confused about it).

Either way, I hope it can be resolved to the satisfaction of both parties.

It's not my fandom, so I haven't read either fic, but I am absolutely 100% convinced you are incapable of plagiarism or sockpuppetry.

I note stonearth has put up three entries now, all indirectly commenting on this and saying:

I've been leaving comments all over and engaging in some very interesting debates. I should have taken this route a long time ago. Although I must admit it seems quite preposterous to post something to a journal no one reads. But nevertheless, when I set up this journal over the summer I never would have expected the fun I've had in just the last day. I'm quite excited to see where all of this will lead.

I feel very inclined to go over and suggest that fun to her may be less so to others, but I don't want to muddy waters more than need be. Your call. But you are a good, honourable person. Believe that.
