Got nearly halfway home when I realised that I'd forgotten to e mail my fic from work to home so I could finish it tonight.

Sad that I am I walked back to work so I could do it

Right, attempt to leave #2

Get yourself a flash drive!

I use one to save my files when write at work. Sometimes I leave it at home, which means I can't write that day, but using a flash drive means I never need to copy the file to my work hard drive.

I figured it was safer, I don't know how they would feel about smut being written on their computers. I'm not sure they could find out I'm doing that on my breaks since the temp file is saved on the flash drive...

*grins*

They're cheap now too. I got a 1gb one for only $15 a few months back. That's big enough that I can use the fast download speed at work to download episode files and then take them home later for viewing.

Really? That's insane...

Oh, sorry... I depend on mine totally and feel lost if I forget it.

Yeah, it's a security thing apparently...

I think your company is a wee bit on the paranoid side.

I used to work at a major US high tech firm where security was a worry, so much so I had to sign a confidentiality agreement and undergo a 7 year background screening in addition to the normal drug tests and what have you, and they wouldn't have ever done that.

I didn't have a flash drive back then, not that I used every day like now anyway, but I could hook almost anything I wanted to my computer.

I even had a USB powered fake fish tank that was really cute. The little toy fish would "swim" around. *grins*

They're really cute, but they can also be powered by batteries.

The little fish has a hinged tail so when it hits the small water jet, it moves around almost like it's swimming. I still got it at home, I haven't gotten around to bringing into my new job...

I probably should now I'm thinking of it.

That along with my little collection of action figures on my desk will firmly cement the fact that I am, indeed, a geek.
