Canada journals - Part 1
Jul. 13th, 2007 10:35 pmI always keep a journal when I'm holiday so I don't forget stuff I did. I'm going to break this down into 3 posts. Before the con, the con and after the con
WARNING: This contains casting spoilers for the next Season and Christmas Special of Doctor Who

Well, it's been a relatively easy day which is good. Got to the airport nice and early and there was no queue to check my suitcase in. Getting through security took longer but it still wasn't especially bad. I had time for breakfast and then it was time to board the plane. It was a decent flight and the food was surprisingly good. Only downside was the woman sat next to me coughed for pretty much the entire flight. I don't think she was ill, it was just the dry air in the plane. It did make getting to sleep rather hard but I managed to get a few hours so I felt ok when we landed.
bonnysprite met me armed with a cute toy mousse and a flower. I haven't named them yet. She's so sweet and we fell into conversation really easily. Both fandom and general stuff. We met up with
richess and went to get food. The first place we went to was a bit crap. It was really dark and all the waiters ignored us so eventually we left. The second place we went to was much nicer with nice food and nice cocktails. We talked about Smallville a lot and why we hate Lana.
richess and I tried to convince
bonnysprite to watch Supernatural. Don't know if we suceeded yet.
After that we came back to
richess's and I watched TV while she did some work. I am ashamed to say I got quite into Canada's Next Top Model and
richess was quite surprised to hear I had never seen the British version. I was also amused to see Coronation Street airing, although Canada is quite far behind us.
Then I watched The Matrix and mocked Keanu a lot. LOL.
redeem147 called and we talked about Doctor Who and the new companion.
Tomorrow we're going to meet up, maybe go shopping and then see Transformers. In the evening we'll attend a Doctor Who meetup. I suspect they will all know a lot more about the show than me.

I'm always amazed at how tiring shopping is. I didn't even buy that much. LOL.
We met
redeem147 just before lunch and went for a walk along Queens Street. We stopped for an ice cream and I wound up dripping it all down myself :(
We went into a lot of clothes shops but I didn't find anything that fit me. I was sad to see that The Silver Cross has closed since I was last here and bought my leather duster.
We had an Indian buffet for lunch which was nice and then we decided to go and see a film. 1408 as the only film starting any time soon so we went to see that. It was weird. Scary in places but weird and too long. It killed some time though.
When the film was done we thought it would be fun to go and see a psychic. Unfortunately she was busy and we didn't have time to wait to we moved on. I did find a Canada's Next Top Model t-shirt for $10 and Season 1 of Lois and Clark for $30 (it was $75 in HMV!)
After that we went to the Doctor Who meetup which was a lot of fun. There was a guy from Wales there which was cool. We squeeded about Spaced and a lot of other UK TV shows and I was amused that a lot of the Canadian's had seen them too. The internet is a wonderful thing!
There was much talk about Doctor Who too, of course. Especially about Catherine Tate being the new companion and Kylie being in the Christmas special. Also there are rumours that The Doctor is going to meet another incarnation of himself so we were speculating who it might be. It was cool and everyone was really nice.
On the way home we went to Wendy's because I'd never had one before. Disappointing even by fst food standards.
Tomorrow I don't think we have much planned beyond seeing Transformers. The con starts in the afternoon. WHEE!
