Last weeks SPN has got me thinking. Can you buy the old fairy tales? Before they got turned into children's stories? I'd love to read a book with some of them.

You mean the Grimm fairy tales? Sure, you can track down the original versions. I read an awesome comic of them once - very bloody.

Thank you!

I put Grimm Fairy Tales into Amazon and it just came up with all the children's ones.

One of my grandmothers bought me a little hardback book of the Grimms' Fairy Tales. I was pretty surprised by them since all I'd ever read were the Disney type versions. It's a good thing I was holder when she gave them to me. LOL

I wonder if they're more common in the US because all I have ever seen are the kiddie versions

I don't know if they're more common here or not. My copy is over ten years old. Though I have seen them for college courses and literary discussions.

I went into my local book shop today. They only had one copy and it was a children's version

You should be able to get them at any library. Just don't go to the children's section, look up Brother's Grimm. We had to study them for a children's Lit. course I took in College, it was very interesting.
