Supernatural
Nov. 8th, 2007 07:26 pmYeah, I'm way behind with this
Yeah, this is what I'm talking about! Proper, classic Supernatural. It was even a little bit scary, but still not up to the Season 1 standards.
I really enjoyed it though. I love the whole 'fairy tales are actually sinister as hell' thing and I've been wondering if SPN was ever going to have a go at it. Well done Kripke! Good job.
Does Lucifer hold Dean's contract? Because I will be fascinated if that's the case. Will we ever see him I wonder? OOH, I'm all excited now and this is the first time I've been properly excited since the season began.
YAY!
And I get another episode tomorrow. WHEE!!!
Random rec: If you liked this episode read The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter.

Date: 2007-11-08 07:59 pm (UTC)I liked the fairy tale theme too. In the middle of that first scene with the three brothers it hit me, and I yelled at the television, "OMG it's the three little pigs!" That was hilarious! :)
The little girl was wonderful. I think she had about the biggest eyes I've ever seen. She did a great job with all those silent looks, the perfect balance between innocent and creepy.

I've never actually read the Grimm brothers' fairy tales - I mean I know that pretty much every Disney movie is taken from horror stories and made all pretty, but are they very creepy?
Plus, there was this:

That book I recced at the end of my post is a modern version of classic fairy tales, but taken back to their original horror roots.
