I'm starting to think the gods do not want lexalicious70 and I to meet.

Part of my 5am anxiety this morning was on how I'm going to afford my trip to Texas. My basic realisation is that I can't if the prices stay as they are.

I was expecting to pay about £400 ($800) for my plane tickets but on the dates I want to travel I can't find anything less than £600 ($1200) which is a lot of money for a week away (and also not much less than the total amount of money in my bank account at the moment)

Discussed with lexalicious70 and we looked at some alternative dates where the ticket prices were more in my price range.

Upshot is that whenever I can afford to travel she has school and work, and whenever she is off from school and work I can't afford to travel.

This sucks ass!

I'll be over here, pouting.

You know I do this travel gig for a living right?
What dates are you looking at and what city in Texas?
And if it's all the same to you I can look at London or Manchester to fly you out of - hopefully I can find something cheaper!

*sigh* It would have to be ElPaso. (Tends to be a pricey city to fly into even from within the US). Let's me play with it and see what I can do.

Drat - I don't think I'm going to get any lovin from you. It didn't matter what I did - everything was $1100-$1200 and really it's the taxes (at $309 - $366) that are killing us. I tried routing you through every major city (Chicago, Dallas, New York, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Denver, etc) that has an airline based there. I even tried routing you through Mexico City and bringing you up that way - just nothing cheap. That's the start of Spring Break so I don't know what the fares will do. Availability is still good so I might just keep checking it periodically and see if it goes down.
Sorry about that - I thought for sure I could find something!

Might it be cheaper to get her to Houston or Dallas and then to El Paso via something like Southwest?

Tried those too but Southwest doesn't fly into El Paso and even into Houston and Dallas the rate was over $1000. Then it was usually another $260-$330 into El Paso.
