hils: (Pissy Lana by me)

Cure has got me on my soapbox tonight

I remember a while ago [livejournal.com profile] mskatej doing a really interesting post on how sex is viewed in Smallville and how that view is more than a little unhealthy.

I was really struck by it tonight.

Lana has essentially taken on the role of domestic housewife now that Martha has gone. She makes pancakes for Clark's breakfast and gives him a chaste kiss on the cheek before she trots off to see Nell in Metropolis.

Now, I may be wrong here, but are they even sharing a bed? I didn't get that impression from the episode.

In fact that chaste kiss is the only sign of anything more than friendship that we've seen from them so far.

Don't get me wrong, I can't stand Clana but you'd think that if the woman you love has just miraculously come back from the dead there would be some serious shagging going on. Even if they're going down the whole 'Clark and Lana can't have sex because his supersperm will kill her' they could at least have them doing some serious snogging.

It's all a bit weird and not quite right.

And that, I promise, is my last post on the matter. For tonight ;)

Now that Lana knows Clark's secret - maybe she reads Larry Niven.

That just cracks me up so bad!

I wondered about this too, but it made me hopeful that Clark isn't totally feeling the Lana love. He certainly seems to have some reservations. I read somewhere that DC Comics has said (per canon) no super sex except with Lois, so they can't go there unless Clark loses his powers again, but I don't know if that's true.

But seriously, we already know it's only a two-bedroom house, and there are three people, so someone's got to be sleeping with someone! LOL! I say no one is sleeping on the couch, because Clark is too much of a gentleman to let one of the ladies take the couch, and he came down from upstairs, so he isn't sleeping there. hmmm. :)

Were Lex and Lana still married at the point she moved in? Is it possible Clark has issues about adultery, although he thought it was okay to try and 'steal' Lex's fiancee?

She was married when she first moved in but as of the start of Cure she is divorced. Nothing holding Clark back now, except the fact he probably wishes she was Lex ;)

Hehe! Yeah, that's fair enough. I've only written her twice. Once I killed her and once I turned her into a decent character...so it was really OOC. LOL

They still didn't say anything about his fear of hurting her now that he has his powers. It's why they stopped having sex in season 5. And it's not like he had a lot of practice in the mean while. So I'm voting no until they tell us otherwise.

I'm right that they've got a pretty weird 'relationship' going on at the moment, right?

They're almost like mother and son which is just all kinds of twisted. LOL

I agree, but I love it. If they completely avoid ever showing Clark and Lana waking up all dewy-eyed in the same bed together, or starting to have sex, or even doing some serious "snogging"--I'll be delighted.

But, yeah, I mean, they've already established Lana as someone who is pretty keen on wanting sex (at least she was at the beginning of S5 with Clark (I still can't watch the closing scene of "Mortal" because of its vague non-con vibes), was pissed when she stopped getting it, and was pretty much the aggressor in the Lexana physical relationship (even though Lex made that crack about being "more than roommates," I don't get the feeling he ever would have pressured her--some villain, huh?). Unless being with Lex completely turned her off on sex for whatever reason (Uterusville?) I would think things wouldn't be much different, now.

I'd love to get more scenes of Lana putting the moves on Clark and Clark blowing her off!

From: [identity profile] hils.livejournal.com
It would be funny. Clark has to gently explain that they can never have sex because it's too dangerous. Lana tries to come up with a variety of alternatives for them to try but Clark has an excuse for them all.

Finally she gets sick of it and goes running back to Lex, who blows her off for trying to have him framed for murder, and Lana dies alone. LOL

*Begins by hugging and petting your icon* You gorgeous, evil thing, you! *Pinches cheeks*

And yeah, I noticed the weirdness myself. Maybe they're sharing a bed, but nothing's going on? *Hopes* Her making those frigging pancakes nearly made me gag. Especially in light of what she's doing behind Clark's back. Don't misunderstand . . . I haven't had too much love for Clark since he's turned his back on Lex, but still, what she's doing is horrible. I hope Lex finds out and strings her up by her tits.

And did I mishear, or did the guy who bought Jimmy's tickets say, "I'm gonna score big with the BOYFRIEND with these?" If so, wow . . . they worked that in with narry a comment!

Clark is being a gentleman and sleeping in the barn. If he's smart he is. Two women in the house that probably don't like each other much. Actually if he was smart, he'd be sleeping in the Fortress. ;)

Hee! Well he is shown coming down from upstairs. Unless he's sneaking out the window after Lana and Kara are asleep

Yeah, but Lana says 'I want to do this before he wakes up' and then he comes downstairs.

I mean I would totally sleep in the barn if Lana was in my house but I don't think Clark sees it that way ;)

Lana is just trying to be what she thinks Clark wants so he won't call her out on all the lying and secret keeping she is doing. She knows he is used to having a mom there to cook and coddle, so she is filling the role while sticking to Lex in the process.

It is definitely (or should anyway) going to backfire. You can't taunt Lex and bait Clark and expect to come out unscathed.

Yesterday I contemplated Clark and Lana in bed (plotbunny), and in my imagination they just ended up angsting and bitching about the Lexana marriage ("Clark, what's wrong? Is this another alien thing you haven't told me about?" "No!" "Clark! Are you *still* angry at me for going to Lex when *you* dumped me?" "No, it's just, you... and Lex - " "You're thinking about our sex life way too much. It's worse than Lex quizzing me about ours.")

And yeah, Lana making pancakes was sort of annoying, but otoh it also amused me - it seemed a little bit like Lana was acting all domestic on purpose to hide that she's got all the morally ambiguous stuff going on.

Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not happening. I'm guessing that Smallville is intended for an audience slightly younger than yourself (from what I gather it is, essentially, a teen drama series) and as such, graphic sex and heavy snogging (which is essentially foreplay) is a no-no as far as the network people are concerned.

For example, Ant and I have a very healthy relationship but we do not spend our every moment with our tongues down each other's throats. A kiss on the forehead or cheek and a comforting hug shows more tenderness and love than any graphic sex scene can.

No, you just suck each others fingers at the dinner table in a restaurant ;)

Smallville DOES have sex in it though. When Clark was human for a few episodes he and Lana were having sex ALL the time. Lois and Oliver and Lois and Clark have all got way into the foreplay stage.

I wish I could find the post that Kate did about it. She explained it way better than I am

Shall read through the other post when I get home and reply about it there and then :)
