I just went into my local comic shop to put in an order for the new Angel comic and I nearly walked away with this

£50! For a book!

Although seeing the price on Amazon it's a damn good job I didn't. £33 is still a lot of money for a book though, even if it is nearly 800 pages and in a really pretty hardback.

See if you can hunt up old copies in trade paperback first. I bought the hardcover, then discovered it's printed on crappy newsprint paper. For $50US I expect archival quality!

I'm going to keep my HC simply because it's a pain in the ass to send it back, but if I'd known it was printed on newsprint, I wouldn't have bought it. It certainly isn't worth the price they're asking.

I've stared longingly at that one on Amazon, too. Although I've heard mixed opinions on it - some people say it's overrated (but it's such a milestone! I kinda wish DC would do an updated version of the story to show whether Infinite Crisis changed the continuity of Superman's death - that'd be cheaper and probably prettier!)
