Ok, it's time for a Lana rant. It's been a while since I had one

This scene got me more angry than I've been for a long time. First of all, Lana is there talking about herself yet again while Gabe is clearly about to break his back lugging her stuff into the house.
Secondly, WHY does Lana wind up living with Chloe? Now, I'm not familiar with American law but over here if a whiny teenager told her legal guardian she didn't want to move the answer would be 'tough' There is no way a girl under the age of 16 would be allowed to leave home without parental/legal guardian consent. She certainly wouldn't be allowed to move in with someone who isn't a blood relative. I suppose technically Lana could be over 16 given the ages of the characters in Season 1 is a bit uncertain.
Either way Nell should have dragged Lana with her and then we would have been rid of the annoying brat.

Date: 2007-10-07 07:43 pm (UTC)I just rewatched this ep recently, too.
Date: 2007-10-07 08:06 pm (UTC)Didn't they make some reference to her doing internet research to "emancipate" herself? I think kids can do this, but I also think there has to be a pretty good reason for it, not just her legal guardian wanting to move and Lana wanting to stay in Smallville. Knowing our show, it was just a convenient way to let her stay in town.
They never mentioned the "emancipation" project again, so I guess we were just supposed to assume it took place. I often thought, if I were Gabe, I'd have kicked her out on her butt after a while. As a parent, I mean. Gabe must have known Chloe had a thing for Clark, and pretty soon Lana's stepping out with Clark behind Chloe's back and Clark's coming to Gabe's door looking for Lana? I've posted before about how when I was younger, if a friend of yours liked someone, you didn't try to take them for yourself, even if the Object of Affection didn't return the feelings. Maybe things are different now, and I admit that no one blamed Lana for the situation, just Clark...grrr. *sputters*
And then, all Lana did was bitch later about "not feeling a part of the family." Did YOU ever see Gabe/Chloe do anything that would make her feel this way? or are we supposed to believe that, in Offscreenville, they weren't super-welcoming over the weeks and months? No, rather more likely is that it just suited Lana at that particular time to believe and convey that she was an outsider.
I don't. Not for a minute.

Lex can go lie in a ditch for xmas, for all we care.
BLAH!

Date: 2007-10-08 02:15 am (UTC)At several points in this episode, Lana practices her technique of turning conversations around to suit herself. Chloe starts to lament that the only guys who seem to be interested in her are meteor freaks, and Lana turns it around to point out that Ian tricked her too. Now... I guess that could be support or something, but it gets Lana out of having to address or even listen to Chloe talk about the other guys who have come after her with meteor powers. Lana has non-freak guys. It's not the same.
Then I had to kill Clark in my mind for the "none of us have dated" line, because I think the dance with Chloe WAS a date. I know the writers probably forgot or somethng, but it makes him look like an asshole. He's only forgiven because he was clearly trying to get out of there to go on his REAL date with Lex.
