I spent today watching a variety of Public Information Films on Youtube. Some of them are, today, genuinely terrifying but it got me thinking.

Why are all the PIFs today aimed at adults? The films I watched today were clearly aimed at children, often using horror tactics (one included a 'spirit of dark and lonely waters' watching children drown and cursing the sensible children for being out of his grasp).

Today they all seem to aimed at adults.

Instead of teaching children to be careful around roads and watch where they're going, adults are now told to keep their speed down so they don't hit any child that might run out in front of them.

Is this because:

a) Children these days don't listen?
b) We as a nation are wrapping our children in cotton wool, convincing ourselves that they can do no wrong and so if they get hurt, clearly it isn't their fault?
c) Blaming accidents on the over 18 so we can sue their asses off?
