Made it safely to Newcastle yesterday and had a lovely afternoon and evening with my friends. Every time I spend time with my friend Kayleigh she somehow gets me interested in a new fandom. I still blame her for all my Dan and Phil feels. So when I turned up yesterday I was greeted with 'Hi, Hils. Would you like some lunch. Btw I have discovered K-Pop'

So while Kayleigh prepared some lunch for us I found myself watching a variety of K-Pop videos on Youtube. Mostly BIGBANG and Astos. From there we ended up watching To Be Continued on Netflix which was a TV show that was made to introduce Astos. There was time travel, high school drama, pining (so much pining). It was basically televised self-insert fanfic on the Mary-Sue character wasn't interested in actually dating any of the boys. It was highly entertaining and surprisingly addictive.

In the evening we watched Civil War and ate shawarma. Good times. I've seen Civil War three times now and it still rates around the middle in terms of Marvel movies for me. I don't think anything is going to beat Winter Soldier at this point.

Having a chilled out morning this morning and then we're heading into Newcastle city centre at lunchtime for cat cafe shenanigans. Should be fun!

Back to work tomorrow but at least it's only for 3 days. It does mean those 3 days will be spend scrambling around trying to get all my work sorted out before I go away for a week.

In hockey news Sweden won yesterday when I wasn't able to watch the game. I told you! The curse is real. Apparently the fighting in the first USA vs Canada game was so bad that they benched Sid for the second game because they didn't want him to get hurt.

From what I understand the second game was even more fighty than the first one so I guess that was the right decision?

I'm just imagining poor Sid though

Coach: I want you go go out there and beat the shit out of them. Score wise but also literally
Sid: But hockey...
Coach: *pets Sid on the head* You can hockey next game.

Evidently I got into hockey when everyone was on their best behaviour for the playoffs. There weren't really any fights at all in any of the games I watched earlier in the year. I guess because the playoffs are important and winning is more important than fighting? Everyone just seems to be beating the shit out of each other in these games.

Kent/Tater (Check Please)
Kenny's 2 Months of Cooking Dangerously by coffeestars
Kent has a mid-life crisis at 27 and starts cooking his way to enlightenment with his teammate, like that woman from the food movie about Julia Child. Or something like that.

Mashkov also keeps tweeting at him, and he doesn't know why.

Argh this is the cutest omg

In the story of Kent’s life, Jack is the one who got away.

(Or: Kent collects little pieces of Jack, over the years.)

(Or: Kent’s always had a bad habit of pushing hard on his bruises the next day, just to feel how something can leave a ache long after it’s done hurting you. Maybe that’s why he’s at this wedding.)

SO MANY FEEEEEEEELINGS

“You tell me what you did when you get here.”
“What? I didn’t—”
“3 AM here and you almost lose your point streak in game last night, Parse. You leave Vegas, go to not-Boston, call me at 3 AM. So you come to Providence, you tell me what happened.”
Kent took several deep breaths, but said nothing.

I never expected to have so many Kent Parson feels

Dot Your T's and Cross Your I's by coffeestars
Zimmermann's mark, the first thought his soulmate will have about him, is on his stomach. It is not the first thing Kent thinks when he meets Zimms.

Kent's own markings are illegible. His soulmate must not think much of him, but it's okay, because Kent doesn't think much of himself, either, as he bandages up his forearm and hides.

EEEE! Soundbond fics are so great :D

He knew that off the ice, the guy was a bonafide teddy-bear; on the ice, there was nothing teddy-like about him, or the way he stood a clear six inches taller than Kent.
Oh, this is so lovely!

Sid/Ovechkin (Hockey RPF)
Wrong on the Internet by annonymous
Sid hates Ovechkin. He hates him so much, he has no choice but to complain about him on the Internet.
OMG this is absolutely hilarious I loved it!
