Poll and some thoughts
May. 23rd, 2011 02:01 pmDean/Cas are now in the final for Romantic Couple
I do find it interesting that the two couples in the final are both m/m.
What I find equally interesting is the dicussion in the comments about what constitues a couple. People were arguing that Dean/Cas should not be included because they're not a canon couple (which was defined as them never having kissed on screen). It was pointed out there were heterosexual non-canon couples on the list who were still at the UST stage of their relationship and no one seemed to be upset by that.
Mostly it degenerated into wank but the discussion at the heart of it was interesting to me. Would you define yourself as a couple with someone you have never dated/made out with/fucked?
In real life, no, I probably wouldn't. But on TV I can see UST in just about any pairing so I say rock on. If you see romance there, then it's there. That's the whole joy of shipping I guess, and clearly enough people see something between Dean and Castiel for them to have made it onto the list in the first place.
I'd love to know what Jensen and Misha think about the whole thing. Perhaps it's something we can ask at Nashcon, especially if Dean and Cas win.
