Greg's girlfriend has been diagnosed with Swine Flu and has been ordered to stay home for a week. Although Greg himself isn't actually ill he's been ordered to go home too in case he's carrying it. So now I'm manning the office by myself indefinitely.

My week off next week cannot come fast enough!

The thing that always strikes me about fan meetups is that it makes fic writing a real process. I know that sounds insane, but really when I write fic I don't really imagine that the comments I get are made by real people. Just listening to people chatting over the weekend with really intelligent insights into fics they had read made me painfully aware of how little thought I put into my fics. LOL! I don't know whether that's a bad thing or not but I just write what comes naturally to me.

I don't even know if that makes sense. LOL

Anyway, here are the highlights of the weekend:

1. Dragons: They were there in abundance and they spent the weekend molesting each other

2. Pass the parcel with an array of amusing and embarrassing forfeits. I will not name and shame, but I did come away with a nice Legends of King Arthur book.

3. thisissirius wandering around wearing a 'pedo' badge for fancying The Jonas Brothers

4. I jointly won 'pin the tail on the slash dragon'

5. I had my laptop hooked up to the projector for watching Merlin episodes and fanvids. This meant everyone had to look at my Misha Collins wallpaper and they liked it (except annephoenix who didn't know who he was. LOL)

God, I must be going senile or something because I really can't remember half the stuff we did. It was a lot of fun though.

I'm still a bit behind on my spn_j2_bigbang reading but here's what I have so far. I'll combine what I have left of last weeks posts with next weeks recs. Only two left

Title: With You Under A Cold, Bright Sky

Summary: At seventeen, Jensen thought he knew what his future would be; a life spent in the circus, and so he didn't see much point in attending a sports camp for gifted athletes. Until he met a brilliant young gymnast called Jared. Together, all their hopes and dreams were just within reach when one split second of carelessness shattered everything, tearing them apart for years.
Back together as grown men, they try to create a new future, with new dreams, on a cold mountainside on the other side of the world.
My comments: I had issues with this one at first because the author decided to make Jared and Jensen British. That said, it's an amazing story and despite my initial misgivings I found myself sucked in and loving it

Title: Where I Lay My Head
Author: parenthetical
Summary: Living in a hotel suite for nine months of the year takes a lot of getting used to, as does living so far apart from your girlfriend. Jared gets through the homesickness of his first year or two in Vancouver, and decides to make the most of things and buy himself a house. Oddly, it's only when Jensen moves in too that it really starts to feel like home. As Supernatural draws to an end, Jared finds himself obsessing about having to say goodbye to their house, until Jensen makes him realize it's not really the house that he doesn't want to say goodbye to.
My comments: Sweet schmoopy and perfect

Title: Little Bit of Inertia, Little Bit of Momentum

My comments: Just a very cute fic that is just the right side of twee.

Title: Apocalyptic Love Songs

Summary: The days are ticking down to the Apocalypse, the last guardian of the Holy Grail is dead, Sam Winchester is growing closer to going Dark Side and Dean Winchester is in love with the last person he ever expected. Castiel and three mysterious women send the brothers on a cross-country quest for the four Grail treasures, while they run from both a sorcerer with grudge and a nameless monster. Injured and uncertain he can actually stop the Apocalypse, Dean struggles to save the world, his brother, and the Grail, and to find a way to be with the angel he loves.
My comments: This one might not be everyone's cup of tea but I wrote my dissertation on grail lore so I loved it. If you haven't guessed from the summary btw it's Dean/Castiel
