The first time I've won anything for my Smallville icons and I think the first time I've won anything ever that wasn't a contest I directly entered myself.

A question

My Smallville and Doomsday DVDs have dispatched which means they should be here in about 3 weeks.

I'm not sure whether I should read The Death of Superman before I watch the film though. Greg has read it and he didn't think it was very good.

Second opinion anyone?

Got myself a hotel in Wales for the JM concert. It's very posh and quite expensive but it's only a 10 minute walk from the venue so that's good

Things that are making me nervous

6A mining for information. I'm worried that there doesn't seem to have been any sort of major announcement made about this and that you have to opt out rather than opting in. I don't know what sort of information LJ is looking for but I have opted out just in case

I get nervous whenever I travel to the US, especially when I'm travelling by myself. Not because I'm worried for my safety, but because I know that US Customs/Immigration are especially suspicious of people travelling by themselves. It's even worse when I'm going to meet someone I know from LJ and have never met in person before. I just know I will get a grilling about why I am here and how I know the people I'm meeting etc. Always at the back of my mind is the fear that they will decide I'm a terrorist and send me packing or worse lock me up. Reading stories like this does nothing to sooth my fears.

I think once I've been to Texas to visit lexalicious70 I will put a hold on any further trips to the US. It's just not worth the stress.

I love working in IT

Just been speaking to our hardware guy and he's going to get the part number off my laptop hard drive and order me a new one. When it arrives he'll just take out the old one, put in the new one and send the old one back as faulty.

So I get a new hard drive installed for free!

\o/

Only thing is I don't have the operating system on disk so I might need to see about getting hold of a copy
