Musings on Smallville
Mar. 16th, 2007 08:26 amSo, Promise aired last night
You know there was a time when I cared about what happened in Smallville. I remember being enraged when it first came to light about Lexana and the baby and it was things like that which contributed to my decision not to watch Season 6. Somehow it didn't feel like the show which I had come to love.
I still read about what was happening but the more I read the less interested I became. Essentially, these days, it sounds like a soap opera with superheroes (ok, just one superhero mostly).
Call me weird (people do frequently) but I have always disassociated Smallville Lex from the Lex Luthor of the comic books and films. They're almost like two different people to me. I never considered slashing Lex and Superman until I watched Smallville and I still wouldn't unless it was set in the Smallville universe.
But I digress. Pretty much the only thing that kept me watching Smallville as long as I did was the relationship between Clark and Lex. That may be shallow and superficial but that's just the way it is for me. I haven't found an on screen 'couple' this inspiring since Buffy and Spike and now that the relationship is over I can't see a reason to keep watching.
( Spoilers for promise )
I really just have no feelings whatsoever any more. I think all the anger and annoyance earlier in the Season has just worn me out. I don't have the energy to have any sort of reaction to last nights nonsense.
I think I need a new default icon. Clex is dead :(
