The book was quite interesting. A lot of technical info which I would imagine would be useful for fic writing but which confused me occasionally.

Next is Bergen To Buckingham Palace by Paul Oppenheimer. I am ashamed to say I got this book when I was still a student. I met the brother of the author at a Holocaust museum in Nottingham and he signed the book for me. It's going to be a tough read. A true story of a German Jewish family's time in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp

Party

Well, it really was an amazing party last night. I wasn't keen on going but Greg kept nagging until I agreed. I'm glad

It was the coolest place ever! Looks like a normal house at the front (apart from a giant palm tree in the front garden) but in the back it's like walking into a tropical paradise! There was a hot tub, a barbeque/bonfire and a little beach hut/bar. Brilliant!

Everyone loved my pirate shoes. WHEE!

I guzzled down rather a lot of some strange punch which had rum in it and a load of things I couldn't idenify and then I moved onto the peach wine which I'd taken with me. I wasn't hugely drunk but drunk enough to be happy and giggly.

Dave showed up and we actually spoke to each other! Obviously I had to start things off *eyeroll* but soon we were chatting like he was just another person at the party. It was good. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be all buddy buddy with him but it's good we can have civilised conversations when we're in groups of mutual friends now.

The party itself was very chilled out. Loads of people lounged in the hot tub for quite a while (I didn't know there was a hot tub so I didn't have anything to change into) and we just chatted, drank and smoked herbal cigarettes. When it started to cool down and get dark we had the barbeque and chatted, smoked and drank some more. We sang along to Nick Cave, Bjork and someone else. Can't remember

By midnight Greg was absolutely wasted so he and Amanda decided to leave. I went with them since I had no idea how to get home on my own. LOL.

When I got home I managed to injure myself in possibly the most embarassing way. Whilst flushing the toilet! My toilet is built in such a way that the flusher is a button that is flat against the wall normally and goes into the wall when you press it. I pressed it a little too forcefully last night and caught my thumbnail on it, ripping a big chunk of it off. There was blood and swearing. It's not too bad now but still a bit sore. I've got it all plastered up

Honestly, what a way to hurt yourself

Well, that was an adventure. The fire alarm just went off in the whole building.

Thankfully there was no fire, just a fault but bloody hell I freaked out.

Still, we met our neighbours and it seems that our building is filled mostly with student who have no idea what to do in an emergency because 'we need men to help us' *eyeroll*

Now we have to try and track down our elusive landlord who has his phone switched off. Useless!

Still, at least all is well. Thank God!
