I really wasn't sure what to expect when I went to this book signing yesterday. While I loved Jasper Fforde's first book, The Eyre Affair, I still haven't gotten around to reading the rest. My mum, however, is a big fan and was really excited.
I actually had a really good time. Jasper is very sweet and very funny. He did a reading from his new book, chatted about it for a while and then did a question and answer session before the book signings began.
If you haven't read any of his books I highly recommend them. I'm really excited about the rest now. I love satire, and satire that combines famous historical and literary figures will always get me. One part in the new book has Hamlet discovering that a new young actor called Piano Keys (Pee-ah-no as in Keanu) is playing him on the stage. Hamlet is outraged because he's not as good as Mel Gibson *snort*
He also has a problem that whenever he has a decision to make he suddenly goes into Soliloquy mode and can't stop talking until someone snaps him out of it *snicker*
Jasper said he also wanted to introduce a famous director called Didley Squat but couldn't fit it in. Hehe!
So go read the books!
Oh, and Jasper was kind enough to let me have a photo with him...although he then said that the flas had blinded him and he would never write again. LOL
