Adventures in Filipino Music

hilsFollowing on from this post I am still chatting with the k-pop reactor who DM'd me on Sunday. He's so funny. I was up way too late again last night because I couldn't stop laughing. We've kind of moved on from talking about the Filipino boys to just chatting about music in general. Having fun.
But, I did finally check out the Filipino group that started all this and they're pretty good! They're not quite as refined as the k-pop groups I follow because they don't have the stupid amounts of money invested in them the way k-pop idols do.
I think this is my favourite song of theirs that has an associated music video. Haven't had time to listen to the album yet. I think this might have been their first release? Not sure.
Apparently they started off as a dance troupe and then decided to be a boy group instead. Considering they initially weren't intended to sing their voices are pretty good!
Their music seems to cover a variety of genres, and there's only 5 members of the group so it's been pretty easy to learn their names and who is who.
The fanbase continues to be VERY enthusiastic. I livetweeted my experiences watching all their music videos last night (they're a new group so there's not that many videos) and the number of likes and retweets everything got was intense. I'm not used this sort of attention in the music fandom I have to say.
So it's continuing to be an interesting experience.

Date: 2022-05-08 08:53 am (UTC)Yeah, that was my first impression, too. Nothing wrong with that at all. And honestly, I think that music video you linked doesn't look low-budget at all to me. They did a great job. The song is pretty cool, too. I do appreciate them singing about half the lyrics in English - better than kpop just throwing one or two lines in there and have the rest subbed.
All in all: I'm impressed!

I applaud your willingness to keep engaging! I'd have stopped long ago, being too shy for any of it, but this is how you make the good memories. <3<3<3
