hilsI love that this meme has been around since the Livejournal days. I wonder if whoever invented it knows people are still using it.
1. What did you do in 2020 that you'd never done before?
Worked from home full-time.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think I made any. I'm going to try and do my Mandarin lessons every day this year. I put a couple of apps on my phone last year but I wasn't in the right headspace to try and learn something new. I think I can manage it now.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
We're not super close butfrith_in_thorns had a baby :D
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully not.
5. What countries did you visit?
I managed to get a visit to the US in during Feb. My trips to Switzerland and Finland that were scheduled for later in the year had to be cancelled.
6. What would you like to have in 2021 that you lacked in 2020?
Not being afraid to leave the house would be nice
7. What date from 2020 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
18th of March was the last day I worked in the office.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Pulling myself out of my depressive funk enough to start writing fic again
9. What was your biggest failure?
I could have been better at checking in on other people
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had a cold back at the end of Jan but surprisingly enough when you're avoiding other people you tend to not get sick
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Ooh it's a tie between my Bose headphones or my new laptop. Both of them have improved my life massively
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Pretty much everyone I interact with regularly. Everyone has been so kind and supportive and we've all be looking out for and helping each other.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Politicians and everyone who saw the pandemic as a way to increase their already ridiculous amounts of wealth
14. Where did most of your money go?
Mostly on things I don't need as a way of trying to make myself feel better
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Being back in fandom again!
16. What song will always remind you of 2020?
Oh, god, any number of songs from my k-pop playlist that didn't even exist until this year
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or sadder?
Sadder
ii. Thinner or fatter?
Fatter. I miss going ice skating.
iii. Richer or poorer?
Got a small payrise so richer but it's only like £10 per month more

Spending time on social media. It's where all my friends are, but it does suck up all your time.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
By myself, but I chatted with my parents on Zoom in the morning and with some friends in the evening so it wasn't too bad.

Hah!
23. What was your favourite TV program?
Oh, god, that's so hard. I watched loads of good ones! I guess probably The Untamed because that's what inspired me to start writing fic again. Guardian though...
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Probably. Politicians whose names I didn't even know last year.
25. What was the best book you read?
I guess the translation of Modao Zu Shi? I really haven't read many books this year it's mostly been fic
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Can I say k-pop in general as a genre? I don't know if I could narrow it down to a specific artist. There are several that I love deeply (NCT, SuperM, ONEUS, Stray Kids)
27. What did you want and get?
Good times with friends, even if it was virtual
28. What did you want and not get?
In person visits with friends and family
29. What was your favourite film of this year?
Oh, god, I'm trying to even remember what I saw before the cinemas closed. I don't think I've seen anything new since then. Oh! Actually, Freaky was fantastic! I didn't see it at the cinema but we streamed it and I loved it.
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I mean no pandemic would have been nice
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 41 this year and I spent a pleasant weekend at a lakeside cabin by myself. Zoomed with friends over the weekend and watched some Tomb Show silliness. All in all it was as good as I could make it in the circumstances

Jeans, tshirts and hoodies

We now have the technology to make it easy to socialise with people in different countries to you.
