Checking In
Aug. 28th, 2020 11:07 amHello, yes, I'm still alive and very much enjoying not being at work.
I've sort of got into the habit of posting every day because I find it's a nice way to unwind when I've finished work. Log off, blog about my day and the previous evening, do fandom stuff before dinner, watch TV after dinner. I like routine.
So far my time off has been going more or less as planned. Yesterday I sorted out the last part of Jacqui's birthday present and then watched Street Dance of China 3. We had a few people join us this time and I'm pretty sure this is the first time
amedawg18 and
lit_oblivion have heard me speak. And by 'speak' I mean shriek about Jackson Wang's face a lot.
I'm really enjoying it. The only other dance show I've watched is Strictly which is about celebrities learning how to dance. This is different because all the contestants on this show are at least semi-pro dancers already so the quality of the routines is excellent. There's a few I'm already attached to just because they have such great personalities.
Sadly the Australians aren't free to watch another one until Sunday now but that gives me more time to do other things so it's all good.
Watched Venom with the guys from work last night which is a lot of fun. I haven't seen it since I saw it at the cinema with my sister a couple of years ago. Definitely stands up to a second viewing.
I'm continuing with The Lost Tomb Reboot and I have to say it's becoming something of a struggle. I want to finish it so that I'm ready for season 2 which is going back to all the things I love about this show. But it is hard.
madamoisellebon is struggling too so we're going to decide today whether to make a push to finish to together tomorrow or not. I've suggested we start Lost Tomb 1 instead and finish Reboot in our own time but I'll see what she says.
Anyway, here's my livetweets about the recent episodes with more thoughts under the cut.
It's not that I 100% hate the Warehouse 11 storyline. Parts of it are interesting. I enjoyed Wu Xie solving the mystery of the allegedly cursed urn. I like Xiao Bai as a character and I'm finding Director Ding quite interesting even though he keeps creepily touching Wu Xie.
The whole plot with the test to get access to the second floor is being dragged on far too long in my opinion. We're about to have the third attempt to take the test and I'm honestly beyond caring at this point.
Pangzi's storyline has somehow managed to get worse to the point that when he's on screen and not with Wu Xie I catch up on Twitter because I can't stand to watch it. I really hope it gets wrapped up soon.
Poor Xiaoge has apparently been forgotten about while all this nonsense is happening. I hope he's at least having run raiding tombs while our attention is on this.
When will the Iron Triangle reunite? It's just not the same when they're not together.
Even if Bon and I don't finish it tomorrow I reckon I can still get done by the end of the weekend. Then I can find something else to watch until season 2 drops. Who even knows when that will be. I'm hearing next month some time but I don't think that's confirmed.
And, speaking of Lost Tomb, my box set of the books arrived yesterday. They weren't supposed to arrive until mid-September so that was a nice surprise. I bought them as a birthday treat for myself so I've left them in the box to open on my birthday :D
Since we're not watching any Street Dance of China today I think I'm going to work on my fic for a bit this afternoon.
But first of all I need to assemble a new playlist to listen to next month
