Light at the End of the Tunnel

hilsGood day at work today. Two of my mid-year appraisals are finished, and the other two are half done. Soon I won't need to think about appraisals again until December.
Had my own mid-year appraisal today and it went really well. Better than expected, actually. I get on really well with my boss and I haven't had a bad review in the whole time I've worked for her, but since we started working from home I've been feeling like I'm not doing as well as I was before. I'm not sleeping well, so I feel tired a lot and I've been doing dumb stuff like forgetting about meetings because I'm engrossed in something else or just not getting everything done that I had planned because my brain just isn't functioning.
I had a glowing review, though. Boss said she couldn't be happier with what I'm doing, and she made a point of noting all the packaging of fobs and taking them to the post office that I've been doing. Apparently since mid-March I've mailed around 340 of them. Which, wow, it felt like a lot but I didn't realise it was that many.
Boss also told me that even though I didn't work a full day last week while I was supposed to be off, that I can just take a full day off to say thank you. I like my boss a lot. So I've booked a day off next to the August bank holiday so I can have a longer long weekend. Am looking forward to it already!
Writing continues to not happen, because I need to rewatch a scene for research and I'm still struggling to watch even clips of Guardian without crying (don't let this put you off it's really good). Today I was browsing Tumblr and a bloody gifset had me welling up. Eventually I'm just going to have to steel myself and do it. It's only one scene and the whole point is I want to write some fix-it for what happens after. It's just hard.
Detective L continues to be delightful. The episodes are a little shorter than other shows. The video files are 40 mins but the credits last for a good couple of minutes and the the last 5 mins or so are a preview for the next episode (I've stopped watching those now because spoilers). So, really, they're only about half an hour episodes. I watched 3 last night and was still done by 10pm.
After all the fuss I've made about not being able to deal with hockey at the moment it turns out there's an early game this evening and I found myself getting excited about being able to see my boys play again. Yeah, I know. I'm fickle and easily swayed. It looks like it's the only early game, the rest are all scheduled for 11:30pm which is too late even with my insomnia. So I'll watch tonight's game and then go back to being grumpy about it tomorrow.
And I've just realised it's movie night tomorrow and it's my turn to pick. I'm struggling to think of a movie I love that we haven't already watched and that's available on Netflix.

Eventually I'm just going to have to steel myself and do it.
Weirdly, I'm looking forward to doing a rewatch so that I can make the happier earlier episodes stick more firmly in my mind rather than constantly replaying all the sad bits, but I'm worried that now I *know*, I'll see all the things going on underneath the surface too much as well. It's a horrible dilemma.
(Maybe writing a fix-it will help?)

Date: 2020-07-30 04:45 pm (UTC)This is exactly my issue. I just see the way they look at each other and how devoted they are to each other and it just reminds me of how it ends and I just can't. Like I watched the scene where SW takes ZYL home when he's sick and I was crying before the scene in the back of the taxi had even finished. I'm just so emotional over these two.
