Adventures Outside

Since we went into lockdown mid-March the only times I've been out have been to go to the post office at the end of my street to mail things for work which I have to do a couple of times a week and to do grocery shopping which I do after one of my post office trips since I'm out of the house already.

Today a friend suggested we meet up in a local part for a socially distant hangout. It's the first time I've been out for something non-essential in 4 months and while I felt pretty anxious about the idea of it I forced myself to go because I didn't want it to turn into A Thing where I'm afraid to go out.

It was nice. We sat on separate benches for a couple of hours and chatted. We talk online all the time but it was nice to be in the fresh air for an extended period and just catch up. A cat wandered by and did not come to say hello but just seeing it was fun.

No idea when we'll be able to do it again since I'm back at work again on Monday (I took this week off because I just really needed a break - working from home is surprisingly exhausting) but it was a pleasant afternoon.

I'm continuing to watch SCI which is a lot of fun but I don't feel the compulsion to binge it like I did with The Untamed and Guardian. Two or three episodes per night is doing me just fine.

I'd quite like to try and get some writing done. Maybe over the weekend. My poor Untamed AU has been very much neglected while I've been watching these other c-dramas.

We talk online all the time but it was nice to be in the fresh air for an extended period and just catch up.

It makes such a difference, which I say as a hardcore introvert.

I'm mostly managing to avoid temptation and not click on your SCI gifs (I haven't seen it yet), but a couple of times I've caved. I keep being startled because one of the actors is the second male lead or something in Bai Yu's Fairyland Lovers and he holds his face very differently in the two shows. *g*

I'm very happy you got out for a distantly social outing :D I know what you mean about having to make yourself go out for non-essential things. I was itching to go for walks...right up until I was allowed to go for walks and then it took me a while to get the confidence to do it. And I still find that if I have a couple of days of not going out, it's much harder to re-start the walks.

I've had two carefully arranged social visits with people and both times were incredibly nerve-wracking in the lead up, but I'm glad I did it.

Yeah, I think the thought of doing it is actually worse than doing it. I still don't feel like going out unless it's for a specific reason. There's way too many people around where I live for me to feel comfortable going for walks. Hopefully now I've been out for socialising once it'll get a little easier next time.

Definitely the change in routine was what bothered me more than not being able to go outside when the lockdown started. So long as I have food and the internet and generally pretty content. I am willing to concede that I probably do need fresh air and sunlight occasionally though :D

YES! Ji Xiao Bing is my favourite in SCI and when I heard he was in Fairyland Lovers with Bai Yu it's kind of making me want to watch that show. I've added it to my Viki list anyway...

I've heard that these are good things, yes. I'm terrible at going outside, though, despite having a greenspace that makes it very easy. (I bought a comfy outdoor chair a month or so ago and am trying to remember to actually go sit out at least occasionally. ^^;)

I'm very fond of his character on FLL! I didn't really bond with the show overall, sadly, even though I liked some elements well enough.

Yeah, I've heard it's kind of a mixed bag. I may watch it at some point but it's fairly low down the list
