hilsOn 1st July I started writing a hockey fic for Camp NaNoWriMo. Initially I set myself a word goal of 20k in a month but when I started planning I didn't think I had 20k worth of plot so I downgraded to 15k. I spent the month just getting words down on the page and figured I'd sort it out during the editing process. I managed to hit my 15k goal (only just - my first draft final word count was 15, 259) and from 1st August onwards I've been working on the mammoth editing task.
Yesterday I finally finished \o/
The fic is now with my betas and if all goes well and I don't have to make any major changes I should be ready to post some time next week.
And I guess my initial guess for a word count was accurate because this was the final number.
I've been saying for years that I can't write long fics anymore. I guess I just proved myself wrong.
