Had to get up at 5am this morning to drop Bill off at the station for a 6am train. I don't think I've been up this early since I stopped working night shifts. It's good though. It means I'll go to bed at a sensible time tonight ready to be back at work tomorrow. It also means that by 7am this morning I'd done all my chores so the day is now mine. I'm feeling kind of inspired to write at the moment so I think I might spend today finishing the editing on my fic.
I'm enjoying the fact that the hockey world cup has matinee games. Usually all the hockey games are in the middle of the night for me so I barely get to see any. I've watched Sweden play three time already which is nice. Tonight is Finland vs Russia. On the one hand I want Russia to win because Geno but on the other hand if Russia win then North America get eliminated and the baby hockey players have been playing REALLY WELL. Ah well, what will be will be I guess.
Yesterday was fun. I took Bill into York city centre and introduced him to Patisserie Valerie aka best cake ever.

After that we went into Lakeland because he wanted some good pie tins and finally we popped into HMV where there was a sale on. Things fell into my hands...

On the way home we popped into Morrisons because Bill wanted to try Krispy Kreme. Hilariously out of all the choices he ended up selecting an original glaze whereas I ended up with a box of 3 because I couldn't decide.

When we got home we had an hour or so to kill before it was time to introduce Bill to the wonders of the Great British Bake Off. I decided to make a start on my colouring book while Bill played Avengers Academy. I decided to use Solas (my least favourite character for those who don't know) as the page to test out all my different pens, pencils and crayons to see which I liked best. I have to say I'm still not massively sold on any of them. The pencils are too faint, the pens are too heavy. The crayons aren't bad but I don't have a very wide range of colours. Maybe I'll go shopping at some point and see if I can find a large crayon set.

When we were trying to find what to have for dinner I made an amazing discovery. I was telling Bill just a few days ago how sad I am that after discovering Pad Thai while I was in New York that nowhere near me delivers Thai food. Well, now they do! An Asian restaurant in town has now started delivering. HAPPY DAYS! So that was dinner sorted.

While we ate I introduced Bill to Bake Off. We started by watching last weeks which I had missed because I was out and timed it so it finished just as this weeks had started. Bill is a total foodie so of course he loved the show and by the end had favourite contestants. Such a shame it doesn't air in Germany.
Although during Bake Off I ended up being mocked mercilessly after I made an innocent typo on Twitter...

So once Bake Off was over we decided and early night was in order because of the aforementioned 5am start. Except Sweden were playing and the game went to ovetime so I didn't end up getting as much sleep as I'd planned. Oh well. Early night tonight for me.
Oh, and Phil Kessel killed me again by being part of a group of players who took the Stanley Cup around Pittsburgh and hand-delivered some of the season tickets to fans. I know that's part of his job but it still made my heart happy.
