MERLIN IS BACK AND AS AWESOME AS EVER
God, look at this show all growed up.
Merlin is no longer a 'young boy' in the voiceover at the beginning but a 'young man'.
The castle (FML I just actually typed Castiel) is actually shown to be fully functional with Arthur ruling. Usually they just have one or two extras in the background but the opening sequence made it feel like an actual proper castle (JFC CASTIEL AGAIN. BRAINWASHED BY SPN)
It made me ridic happy that Sir Leon is now properly part of Arthur's gang of knights and he gets to adventure with him. How amazing is it that he's gone from namless extra to fully fledged and much loved character
Morgana is badass and hot. I love how everyone is nicely slipping into their classic roles.
Tony Head absolutely ROCKED the couple of scenes he had. He manages to convey so much with little to no dialogue. Amazing.
Gwen is the only character I got a bit annoyed with. I loved her farewell scene with Arthur but when she made Lancelot promise to keep Arthur safe that's just cold when she knows how Lancelot feels about her. Yes, Gwen, ask your ex lover to keep your current lover safe under pain of death.
And, of course, Merlin and Arthur's romance is as epic as always. I loved the little nods to last year like when Arthur called Merlin a clotpole and he was all 'that's my word!' So cute!
I really wish that when Merlin told Arthur that under different circumstances they might have been friends, Arthur had actually said that they ARE friends. Because they are. Either way it was adorable, and of course Merlin sacrificed himself to keep Arthur safe.
I can't wait for next week! Love this show and I have missed it!
