1. Social interaction. I love that no matter the time of day if I need someone to talk to there will be someone online
2. The sheer diversity of my flist. Seriously, I've got every age, gender, sexual orientation and geographic location covered on my flist
3. The creative output. I think fandom would be a lot less fun without all the fic, art, meta, podfics etc
4. TV fandoms let you meet the people you talk about. When I was a kid I was only into movie stars and singers so the first time I met a TV actor it about blew my mind that this sort of thing even happens.
5. No matter what you love there will be at least one other person out there who loves it too and will be willing to squee with you about it
